So I got fired from my prop

Shows you what a strange business trading really is, essentially just gambling. Seems to me either you have it or you don't for the particular kind of market you walk into.

Six months to make a trader? Takes at least six years to get to any level in any "normal" profession.....
 
i had 6 months in me and they let me go..........and i was starting to come around

i had to learn the specialist and then the hybid...BIG CHANGE....

shoulda been given AT LEAST 1 MORE MONTH to show a positive profit....

but bottom line, it was up to me, and i failed, so onto the next
place.

i feel i can do it and I WILL......would they rather me try for 2 months and realize i cant do it, or do it for 6 and realize i must fight to do it and i was willing to fight for the prize
 
Awhoa, I thought you were with Hold Bros? Man I'm sorry to hear what happened. But did you try to talk to them? They should make an effort to understand the enormous changes the market went through with hybrid. Basically every strategy their mentors taught became useless and they still don't have anyone that can lend you a hand with this new market type with minimal specialist interaction. Partly because, no one has a damn clue. They're so used to taking their free rides with the specialist reading technique which has now vaporized. Man, don't quit just because they let you go. If you thought you were making progress, then keep going for it. If You have a series 7, you can deposit 5k with any prop firm and get 100% payout with good commissions. Oh, and six months is absolutely no time to judge someone's trading ability. It takes several years to become good at this just like in any profession. The manager himself said this to me and told me to take it slow and step by step. Firing you makes no sense to me..

That says it all. You'll find a way to make it work. I'm in the same boat as you. I traded full time prop in '05 with a firm. Didn't blow out my account but wasn't comfortable with the high velocity trading. I'm sure it would have come in time, but I had decent financial obligations and thought the best thing to do was to step back to my corner and wait for the next round. I now work full time on the buy side (boring), but I am trading in my spare time. Prop account (remote user) should be up and running within a week. I found the exact trading method that's right for me; high percentage plays using technicals, very low risk and still being able to capture big moves pretty much dollar for dollar. In essence firing myself from full time prop trading has made me a better trader. Will start posting to a journal once account has opened.
When I trade now, I feel confident, and if I lose I lose very little. I sleep well.

LOL! No wonder you got fired. LOL. I'm surprised they let you stay 6 months. You lost the company money.

If I were you, I would try to find another prop firm to get hired at. If you can't find one then trade your own money. Maybe you will do better if you are trading your own money. Email me and let me know in private what firm you worked for. i'm looking for a firm to go to work with no money down. Maybe they will hire me. Email me on this board. Or instant message me.
