So atheist's believe it is simpler for the universe to create itself?

you may wish to watch the video I presented from susskind a page or two ago.
he is one of the co founders of string theory.

he explains that for instance the cosmological constant is finely tuned to 120 something decimal places and that a just that tiny little decimal point area weaker we fly apart and a little stronger we crunch.

I did not make up the argument... its the top scientists in the world who figured it out. The standard model being so finely tuned was confirmed when the found the higgs boson.

"fine tuning" is an absurd argument put forth by very small minded people.

Yes it's true the universe is finely tuned for life as it exists on earth today. If any of the forces in our current universe were to change, even a trillionth of a fraction, life as we know it would not exist.

SO?

How the #$%# do you know that by changing the properties by a trillionth of a fraction, we wouldn't exist but it would allow an entirely new kind of life in other parts of the universe to exist? Or maybe no life would exist, or maybe by changing it ever so slightly, a billion planets would be sustaining life. Maybe they wouldn't breath oxygen. Maybe they'd breath helium and be 100 feet tall with 6 arms, 17 hearts, and 5 brains.

Small minded people make me laugh. After all we know about the vastness of the universe and how incredibly insignificant humans are, puny minded religious people STILL think it's all about us. Who cares if we would or wouldn't exist if the universe changed? The universe doesn't care about us.

Finely tuned huh? Do you know how much of the known universe humans can survive in?

0.0000000000000000000000000001 %

Yeah, the universe sure is finely tuned for people, LOL !

well then see, we have something to talk about, you must admit that when the University acknowledged that there may be a God, the right wing was more open to funding.

otherwise, it aint that important to us, we have our own belief and aren't trying to control the world

it's extremely important to the democrats on the left that the total notion of God is eliminated, they need a godless society to move ahead
That may be one of the few things on which I agree with Democrats and liberals. We do need a godless society. All religion is evil and impedes the growth of humanity. Do away with it and we should progress much faster.

ok, I've often said the same thing, but lets not confuse religion with God

Again, such a laughably puny statement. The arrogance and egocentricity of some people. Fine tuning is only an "argument" for people who are actually stupid enough to think the universe cares about us, or it's current form. I've already stated that yes, scientists for years have known that the universe AS WE KNOW IT wouldn't exist if any of the forces were changed ever so slightly. But honestly, who gives a #$@^$ about the universe as we know it. Change them, and it would be a different universe. So what. There could be billions of them, and current forms or alternate forms mean nothing.

The universe isn't for us, doesn't care about us, and got along just fine without us for billions of years. Puny minded religious people seriously need to wake up to this fact. The amount of the universe that is suited for humans is about 0.0000000000000000 billion more 000000000000 and more 0000000000 1

We mean nothing in the grand scheme of things, get over yourselves, and the childish notion of God.

are you making a case for God or against God? It's kind of hard to tell. With all those zeros in your statistics, it looks like we are pretty special.

fair enough, now we are getting somewhere, to you, and correct me if I am wrong, belief in God and ignorance are one and the same, and you need to eliminate it to progress. Right?

No, that's not what I said. Not even close.

This does however give us some insight as to why you are a believer.

well, you got that right, I am a believer, I'm also a trader and a gambler, and at some point I just had to admit it couldn't possibly be a coincidence, and believe me, I tried to explain it away with what little logic I could come up with, but I am not a preacher, and have no interest in controlling the world, and very little interest in progress

getting back to the original op topic, can it be a coincidence? Well, what's a coincidence? When we are talking about billions of years, that's a lot of numbers, and given enough time, even monkeys sitting at typewriters could probably start writing Shakespeare. But when it comes to your own life, time is very short.

I recommend that you buy some A rated bonds.
