so you do have a kid... well $100/week level does exist but is typical for non academy teams and the players are not represented by an agent, therefore less negotiation know-how... and outside of the US the levels are lower.
some of the more prestigious teams pay up to $3500... fairly close to the OWL minimum.
my son does have an agent who does the negotiation for him.
in any case for a 14-yo this matters little because he's still supported by us parents.... for the players over 19 trying to make a living on their own then the amount does matter, you are gonna lose good talent to other teams if you can only pay $100/week; the math is simple because if you can keep a player on the roster and some OWL team picks him up, the transfer fee is comparable to Major League Soccer. ... and of course these guys all have the ultimate goal to make it into the OWL.
