Six Iranians arrested for dancing to promote islam

Really what is the big question is if the god is omnipotent, and know everything, and have love, that god can create all people with goodness, and that god can create earth with humans to have no poverty and disease and the crime. Really I think it is so stupid to believe in this god. Why if the god know everything, does the god create the problems? The god have control of the past, present, future.

Trimlover, I get the substance of what you are saying, I think.

If God is omnipotent, and supposedly good, why does he allow all the suffering and torture?

Why he/she/it/whatever not allow all life to prosper happily for all ages to come?

It's a fair question for sure.

My guess is maybe God, just means exactly what the old English term for God meant, which is Good.. and Good or goodness is a force that is prevalent throughout all of life, just as is evil, or selfish nature.

I am not sure if an omnipotent being is possible, and if it is, we can presume this omnipotent being either doesn't care that people suffer, or allows it for it's own selfish pleasure.

Either way, neither equation adds up to such an omnipotent force as being Good.

So, I do not worship any such omnipotent being, but instead try to follow good, or God, but as you well know, the inherent Evil always lies at our feet, beckoning our attention as well.

I believe there is a battle between Good and Evil being carried out each and every day throughout the earth, and maybe the cosmos.

I don't know why I feel the need to try to stay on the narrow path which follows good, as opposed to the wide path that follows evil, and it seems I'm not the only one who takes that higher road either. Seems like just about every one gets on it at least a little bit every now and then- some more than others of course.

It also seems that we all catch ourselves on that lower road to- the one that's wide and really easy to follow. I think I may know why it's important to try to continue to stay on that higher road to God, but I doubt I'd have time to explain it to you all in here.

I don't need to believe my God is an omnipotent being in order to follow. I don't fear the wrath of God as much as I fear the wrath of Evil. Not sure if that makes sense or seems stupid to you.

It seems just as stupid to me to think that we all came from a point smaller than the head of a tooth pick.

Talk about clown theory, just listen in to that so-called Nuker Team when they're preaching about the beginning moments of the universe, known as the Big Bang! Geesh- what a bunch of nut jobs to wholeheartedly believe some of that stuff the way they do, and it's scary how many they have made believers in a short amount of time...

LOL, talk about Irony.

In Iran, however, dancing along to the innocuous song has more dire consequences: six young Iranians were arrested and forced to publicly apologize on state television after dancing in a music video to “Happy.”

Seems like Iran has come along way towards being Americanized just like the rest of the world.

A few years back those "dire" consequences would have been hard to imagine. It still seems easier to imagine those women had acid poured on their faces and their breasts burned off.

You sure that's all the officials made them do was apologize publicly? Wow! These new Iranians almost sound likable...

Six Iranians Arrested for Dancing in Pharrell-Approved ‘Happy’ Video

A few weeks ago, we brought you the story of the backlash against a group of British Muslims dancing along to Pharrell Williams’s hit song “Happy,” which attracted controversy over what many in the Islamic community considered a “vulgar” way to promote Islam. In Iran, however, dancing along to the innocuous song has more dire consequences: six young Iranians were arrested and forced to publicly apologize on state television after dancing in a music video to “Happy.”

According to the Telegraph, the six twentysomethings — three men and three women — were arrested for their “vulgar” video, which Tehran’s police chief personally decried as “hurt[ing] public chastity.” The video itself, part of a Pharrell campaign with the United Nations for the International Day of Happiness, racked up nearly a quarter of a million views before the state government took it down and charged the six with violating morality codes. The charges mainly centered on the fact that the women’s hair appears to be uncovered, a huge no-no according to strict Islamic dress codes for women, which state that “women must cover themselves from head to toe.” (One of the women who appeared in the video says they used wigs in order to conform to said codes.)

Call this enlightenment ?
They have been living in the hot sun of the desert for far too long !
To think that this was the area that human civilization first existed.
Haven't progressed much in 2,000 years. imho

In summary.
Lets say there is a Natural Law that says we people should be free from slavery.
Why could a Creator have not instituted that law?

Already covered. A Creator could not have instituted that law because Creators are not universal. And they change their minds.

so according to Stu when the founders wrote "Natures' God" they did not write the word God.

They wrote nature's god "not Natures' God". If they'd written the words "no god" you'd still be screaming they'd written the word "God".
But then removing context meaning and words themselves is the only way to get your own god in there.

Screw your draft.

It's not my draft you say screw to.

It's obvious what they meant by what they wrote. Already mentioned, the finished signed Declaration works with or without any suggested appeals to the supernatural.

"But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." Thomas Jefferson.

btw. Posting my quotes onto your selfie might make you sound more intelligent but doesn't make you any the less plug ugly. :p

Are you saying the right to life- food, water, sex etc. is really inalienable?
If someone chops your head off, wouldn't you have to agree that those rights have been taken away, and therefor they were never inalienable?

If you get locked up in jail, hasn't your right to Liberty been alienated?

No you're misunderstanding the whole reasoning behind inalienable rights.
Your inalienable rights to those values cannot be taken away. The values you have inalienable rights to can.

Talking of GODS, whatever happened to all those ancient Gods of Greece, Rome, Egypt etc.

Did they get off their clouds to help out ? Of course not.

God didn't make man. Man made God and been living off the proceeds ever since.

Wise up fools

The idea of God embodies such elementary things as good and evil and as such fufils a purpose. Without the basics, man is just a chaotic greedy animal !!

The clown pool you speak of must be pretty small because we're swimming in circles.

How about answering a direct question...

Is there really such a thing as an inalienable right?

If so, Can you name one or even two?

I've seen plenty of times where someone or many have had their "inalienable" rights stripped from them. Not once have I ever heard anyone say (until now) that it was the Values to someones right's have been stripped, but they were still able to retain their original rights.

Just imagine all of the poor bodies , bloodied knees, crying in the dirt because their hand had been chopped off, a loved one was beaten to death, or their babies were sold out from under them.

I can see it now, the Human Rights committee shows up and there is Stu with his hands facing outwards telling them to stop and go back to where ever they came from saying, "Send in the Human Rights' Values Committee", and then honks his nose.

Reading some history of the start of WWI just now, 28 June being an anniversary of course, I get a strong reminder of just how little human affairs really change. Religion, politics, nationalism, fear, insanity, pride, shame, ethnic hatreds, feuds, etc.; the skin colors, costumes, and languages change but it's all the same battle and warfare, every reason and excuse from mere survival to grasping the heights of privilege and luxury, century after century into millennia. Pale blue dot.
