Except in the U.S. there was not clear national standard and every state & local government ran in their own direction -- making for a complete mish-mash of public health policies to address COVID-19. Numerous studies with none of the data even properly audited, verified. All studies have been undertaken to produce a result. There is always monies involved. These so called academics do not work for free so, to be taken with a grain of salt. Why is it firms on the NYSE have to have their financial statements audited and certified to be accepted as accurate by the public but, medical studies which affect millions health are not even audited as to accuracy and the method used or if the data is even reliable?
President Donald Trump can set policy but the governors of the 50 states are free to ignore it. How can you miss that? Then, what policy he sets is just a request for practical purposes. No different when he asked the governors to crackdown on the rioters which Democrat governors just ignored and let the rioters have their way, every time. Comparing the US to other countries for the simple fact that we have governors with executive powers is an apples to oranges comparison.

Feel free to go read the studies and cite exactly what data, methods, and results you disagree with on a scientific basis. If you have disagreements then you better contact the highly respected authors of these studies to express your concerns.
Not much different than how other countries operate. Except their national leaders provided leadership. Trump failed to provide leadership - our COVID-19 response failure can be directly attributed to him.
Why should I bother? Reading a study would not prove it is accurate or truthful. Do you know what an audit is? If I were auditing those reports with say a battery of doctors who are experts in their field, I would expose each one of them for the liars that they are. Like I said, those studies are not worth the paper they are printed on when other studies contract them. So, who is telling the truth? You got nothing.
In other countries, the President of the country does not have governors to interfere or sabotage his orders. That would never fly in those countries. Which other countries have the same setup as the US?
