Democrats across the country are celebrating the coming Second Shutdown amid statewide mandates for mask wearing:

Dems were starting to worry that the first Shutdown was not enough to put economic pressure on every American. Liberal state governments have come to rescue and have helpfully misidentified new cases caused by riots and protesting as being caused by evil businesses reopening and terrible awful people who frequent bars and restaurants.

Me? Tossed my masks in the garbage this morning. Mandate THIS.
 
You would think that a leader like Trump with narcissistic and control tendencies would have welcomed and used the COVID-19 pandemic for his political agenda if he had any competence.

This was an opportunity to rule the U.S. with strong-hand -- shutting down borders, driving his health agenda, demanding the national guard be called up in every state, taking federal control of medically non-compliant cities, and other actions aligned with his agenda. COVID-19 was the perfect opportunity to drive them all. If Trump had done it well he would have looked like a national hero while addressing the worst pandemic in 100 years. People would have forgiven economic damage and the inconvenience of lockdowns as long as they saw clear unifying, strong leadership at the federal level. He could have set the table to win the 2020 election easily.

Instead Trump dithered away, trying to arrange crony capitalism for medical supplies to make his buddies rich while tweeting nonsense showing he was not in any way a leader. This was coupled with his disastrous press conferences that never stayed on topic and only demonstrated that he was completely incompetent to address a crisis. He spent his time trying to minimize the problem while rushing to re-open the economy so he did not have to deal with our national public health crisis.

Actually, what you see as Trump not enforcing a heavy hand, many of us see as Trump respecting freedom and a running economy.

But his press conferences were cringeworthy.

Democrats want the economy shut down so

1. The economy fails and Trump is held responsible.
2. Biden doesn't have to do a debate

Biden gets elected, the virus will suddenly dissipate or become benign through a miracle evolution.

I cannot disagree on this. The man, for me, is unsavory.

But I don't see any alternative. I'm certainly not going to vote for a party or agenda supporting anarchy and revolution.

I like clear choices. The choice in November could not be clearer. I will hold my nose and vote accordingly.

I believe masks depress retail sales. Additional shutdowns are going to require actual enforcement because, at least here, there is going to be some noncompliance and some legal pushback. Lawyers are going to be busy.

People here tend to wear their mask on their chin or hanging from one ear or just around their neck. Will the police determine "proper fit"? Will field tests be performed to determine "appropriate materials"?

The only thing I can hope for is that Biden can convince me that his crazy progressive behavior was an act to win the nomination and that he will meander back to a democrat centrist once he wins the election.

Otherwise I'll have to do the Libertarian candidate.

If you did not believe in the pandemic, why did you have masks in your possession in the first place?

Letting out a rebel yell may be fine with a political basis, but not a health one.

I was just thinking today how sorry all though Trump adherents will be feeling, after attending his rally without a mask and getting sick with the COVID. Will be a true "I told you so" moment.

Why are people so averse to wearing a mask? If you are near your home while it's old asbestos insulation is being removed, would you refuse to wear a mask because you do not believe in cancer?

If your doctor is going to perform surgery on you, will you tell him, right before you are put under general anesthesia, "Please, take off you mask. I don't believe in them. You are germ-free"! FREEDOOOMMM!


I hardly think so.

People, wear the bloody mask and use hand sanitizer. Why is this still a thing?
