Should We All Die At 75?

I totally get the sentiment, but in doing so you could be voting to keep Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader or Nancy Pelosi as Speaker. You could be giving obama the votes he needs to get Eric Holder confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice.

Exactly , that is why you need to spend more time and resources educating people like Lukie and Arnie.

well to the topic the thread became, its quite related.
to your post a little less so unless you actually use your brain.

Before we did not have to worry about or rely on govt run death panels.
The govt had little control over those types of life and death decision... But now, the article seemed to ht on the point that maybe people should die at 75 so they don't have to be subjected to govt death panels or age related illness.

if you were really cynical... the article might have been saying you should die because you are a burden and therefore as leftists take us closer to fascism you will die.
In short the article might be a set up for a Logan' run type scenario.

(not that I am saying it... it is what a cynic might say.)

And this is related to the topic in what way?

as a boomer on the cusp of being a non boomer, I felt it was my right to state that the woodstock generations is the biggest group of takers and leftist destroyers I could have imagined. However, over time... I believe we could have afforded to let them be takers... had we not had 700 percent inflation or more over my lifetime.

The idea that the dollar was in so much demand all over the world... and that we still had 700 percent inflation is a cruel theft from the last 2 generations.

Until recently the government borrowed the money so that should have kept inflation very low.

There was massive demand for the dollar from all over the world for international banking and for all the countries who needed a currency. The dollar should have appreciated strongly from 1960s levels when coffee was a nickel and cars were 4000 - 6000.

Instead of imports going down and the dollar being stronger... someone printed so many dollar coffees are not less than a nickel they are a few dollars?

Which private group got the benefit of pumping out trillions of dollars all over the world and devaluing our currency so tremendously.

Can you believe what has been done to those that saved and worked hard.
Then on top of that... massive taxation.

I no longer blame the boomers... at all.

1,000,000 percent inflation since 1776!

It seems to me those in the article believe that after 75 or 80 there is nothing left to contribute. Age gives a perspective and experience that is not easily replaced. If the brain is out of sorts then this could be understood but personally I would hope that people choose to fight on.

It could be my experience with a closely knit family where even grand and great grand parents have been considered valuable. It is true that there came a time where the memory gave in and the life of those we cared about became just an empty shell, and it did take extra effort and time to keep them alive. It still was worthwhile at least in my eyes. We all have different preferences, and others might disagree.

All these things we consider related to old age are eventually going to become curable ailments. If a situation comes when a person is turned into a vegetable then living on would seem pointless. However, if the mind is reasonably sound and dependency isn't too great, why not enjoy this gift of life. Who knows if there's going to be another try.
