State can charge him with attempted murder...a life sentence

So the guy didn't fire the gun and Trump was not in sight. The State DA is likely to lose any case where they charged the guy with attempted murder. Unless the guy confessed to laying in wait to shoot Trump with the intent of killing him -- then the government does not have much of a case. The guy could simply say he was innocently resting the woods with his gun taking a nap when the Secret Service started shooting at him and defy the state to prove otherwise.
Much safer to go with the two gun charges which carry lengthy sentences.
All I know is this guy has supposedly been active with the Ukraine situation and although they would never publicly say it, Trump is probably the number two guy they want dead after Putin. Their existence basically depends on U.S. military aid. I could see us finding out their involvement in this botched attempt decades later just like the Saudi situation with 9/11.

I mean, there has to be a "reasonable doubt". I don't know if he was just "in the wrong place at the wrong time" and just happening to be aiming where ex-President was headed who he hates is a "reasonable doubt". It's going to be interesting lol.

You know that everybody knows when Trump is in Mar a Lago. You know Trump is always on the course. You know that they are soft on papparazi. You don't need Ukraine for this.

LOL. I do occasionally step away from the keyboard. My response is you, as many do including myself, make assumptions as if they are fact. All we really know is this guy has an extensive criminal history and known to have been more than a little crazy. Perfect for a MK Uktra candidate.

Palm Beach asks for help paying for Trump security
One of the nation's richest enclaves is seeking government assistance to help protect its most famous resident as his security costs have shot up to $93,000 a day.
Palm Beach County has asked the federal government to help cover security for Donald Trump, who lives at the private Mar-a-Lago resort and was apparently targeted for a second assassination attempt Sunday at a golf course nearby, reported Bloomberg.
“We’ve had to heighten security ever since the campaign started with the former president, who is our resident here,” said Palm Beach County mayor Maria Sachs. “Yes, it’s disruptive and difficult, but it’s the price we pay to live in paradise.”
The U.S. Secret Service and other federal agencies often mobilize personnel from local law enforcement and other sources when Trump and others under their protection are on the move, and those measures could be seen Monday in Palm Beach, where officers blocked off key streets around Mar-a-Lago.
The blockades often frustrate many residents, who have expressed concerns that a second Trump presidency could lead to additional restrictions when he is visiting, and the mayor even floated the possibility of closing Mar-a-Lago at a recent town council meeting.
