Because he waited in the area that Trump allows the paparazzi gather and take photos from, Trump was at home and it was a Sunday.

Trump nearly golfs every day when he is at residence at one of his golf courses when there are no other known public events planned for him to attend. All the shooter needed to do is to know he was in Florida and no planned events were on Trump's public schedule. At this point all the shooter needed to do was to wait for Trump to show up on the golf course. If not the first day then Trump would likely show up on the second day. Twelve hours was not long to wait for the inevitable to happen.
This conspiracy tale from MAGA world that someone leaked Trump's schedule is laughable.
