Every CO2 molecule that gets released in the atmosphere from burning fossil fuels came from the atmosphere in the first place. The net gain is zero.
So the article I posted from 2006, from NASA, one of the researchers who was Drew Shindell, someone I thought was in agreement with warming, was wrong? It wasn't I, but he and his colleagues that stated reduced solar output may have resulted in a cooling period. Did you read the entire article before you threw my name in the mix? Any of it? You said "Solar output changes have never been the major driver of climate change". The article I posted directly disputes that, researched by one of your guys. Go read it, you might actually learn something.

Solar INPUT to the earth HAS been the cause of the MAJOR changes in the temps of the earth. These changes are due to orbital changes which cause variation of how much sun hits land vs sea. This initiates warming which releases CO2 which causes more greenhouse effect, which causes more warming, which releases more CO2 etc. It is these levels of CO2 that mostly determine the temps, after being nudged by the orbital changes.
You may notice the word "major". I doubt he says it is the major driver. But I will look into his work further. But all this talk about solar output changes is just a red herring. The solar forcing effect of the rise in greenhouse gasses far exceeds, by orders of magnitude, solar activity changes.
