Schumer Surrender - the M& M Massacre

Trump campaigned on no amnesty, certainly no citizenship for illegals. In fairness, he did mumble something about Dreamers being ok. His signature promise was the wall, which of course meant that dems would do anything to stop it, so he would be in the position of George "Read My Lips, No New Taxes" Bush.

Trump has now foolishly accepted the entire premise of the amnesty movement. All Dreamers, not just those in DACA, plus their parents will be put on a path to citizenship. He and the republican leadership have accepted that as the morally right position. Having frittered away their negotiating leverage, I really don't see how they can get any kind of deal out of the dems. The dems should do exactly what they are doing, pocketing concessions and raising the bar.

The dems feel there is a very good chance if they hold firm, the McConnell/Ryan surrender monkeys will be braying for a deal, any kind of deal, so they can claim to have "done something." Trump has been surprisingly open to taking his lead on other matters from McConnell/Ryan, albeit with disastrous results, eg repeal of obamacare, Alabama senate primary. On DACA Trump has frankly been so far all over the place that no one really knows what his position is.

So there is a very good chance Trump will go along with an amnesty, which the courts will then expand to include every living or unborn person in the entire third world, and get nothing of substance in return. Good luck running for reelection on that record, which of course is exactly the end goal of the dems and establishment republicans. Once again, they win, America loses.

Ok. But was Trump really a no on DACA during the campaign?

Good question. I recall him mumbling something about Dreamers being taken care of. It got lost in his overall bluster about walls, no amnesties, etc. I think it is fair to say his supporters would be seething with anger if there is any kind of amnesty including Dreamers, who after all, are illegal aliens, just very loudmouthed ones. He might be able to placate his MAGA base, provided he can point to tangible improvements in immigration. Most importantly, he has to be able to campaign in front of a massive wall, preferably with hordes of would-be illegals massed on the other side of it.

Dems see a real chance here of getting an amnesty, which the courts will then expand grotesquely, and give up nothing much at all. That's the gang of six position, that's Javenka's position, that's Ryan's position, that's the media position, that's the republican establishment position, that's the position of Gen. Kelly and the head of DHS. Standing against it is the little boy with his finger in the dike, Steven Miller.

It'll be fascinating to see it play out.

the polls and the people are against this. certainly the base.

this could have been parlayed into a big win for the republicans and they will likely get nothing future election defeats from it.

It is hard for me to imagine how short term crooked a politician has to be to sell out his or her own and his or her party's future. You would almost have to wonder if they were raised as sleeper agents/politicians or something?

Nice try.

Soros spent the happiest days of his life helping the Nazis.

Whether he was an officer or a not or even a registered member of the party (too young anyway) is neither here nor there. They went out doing dirty work in rounding up jews and he was with them.

As I said:

"They went out doing dirty work in rounding up jews and he was with them."

What part of that is not correct?

And yes, as he said, he "had no guilt" because he was just assisting.

And yes, as I have said, he has said that was the happiest time in his life.

So we have Trump who your ilk calls a Nazi just for fun each day, and another person who actually associated with, assisted, and accompanied Nazis who you will defend with your last breath.
