Sarah Palin- Healthcare Czar

Quote from Cesko:

We do not know that about government health-care spending. It does not follow, because it implicitly assumes a premise, that health-care spending is the only government spending.

Actually we do. Medicare spending rose 30% faster than the rest of HC spending during last few years. So while maggot POTUS (and the rest) tell us government option will cut costs, government option is already major factor in driving HC costs higher.

Regardless, is it actually possible that there are people (adults!!) who believe that government will be able to cut HC costs without affecting negatively (in any way) health-care????

Whatever you are smoking pass it over to me, I'll sure like a hit!!!

Your comments support some other assertion, and do not address mine.

And yes, at least one of us believes that cutting HC costs could occur without harming HC. Efficiency comes to mind. Who knows that better than us Yanks?

"Other" countries don't have 40,000,000 unhealthy, African-Americans and 60,000,000 (perhaps 1/4 illegal) Mexicans of Indian ethnicity sucking off their health care system.
Here's some lines from a recent AP story from France:

“French government to tackle surging health care deficit”

PARIS (Reuters) - The French government is looking at ways to plug a gaping hole in its health care budget and may charge patients more for hospital stays, Budget Minister Eric Woerth said on Monday.

After a 4.4 billion euro ($6.31 billion) shortfall in the health budget in 2008, Woerth said he expected the deficit to hit 10 billion euros this year and 15 billion next, with the economic downturn denting social security contributions.

“We were not far from balancing the social security books and now, with the economic (crisis) … the deficit is taking off again,” Woerth said, adding that the government would address the problem in the 2010 budget."

Or from England: "Science Daily (Aug. 16, 2008) — The NHS and private healthcare are not providing good enough basic care to a large portion of the population in England, especially older and frailer people, according to a study published on bmj.com.

Overall, only 62% of the care recommended for older adults is actually received, conclude the authors.

The large-scale independent study of quality of care involved 8 688 people aged 50 and over and looked at 13 different health conditions including heart disease, diabetes, stroke, depression and osteoarthritis.

The research team led by the University of East Anglia studied whether effective healthcare interventions were received by people aged 50 and over with serious health conditions.

Yes indeed, France and the U.K. sound like GREAT models to copy. Of course with Medicare, Social Security, Fannie, Freddie, the FDIC, Amtrak and the Post Office all beacons of wonderful Federal stewardship, why would anyone be skeptical about the G's ability to "reform" health care?

Please, please lets not be honest. People here just can't handle that.

Pabst, you are like Rush. When you hit a topic, there is not a lot left to say on the subject.

You make a great point about surging education costs. Obama wants the government to underwrite more of the cost of college, which of course will result in tuition and fees going up even more. The universities will just pocket that extra money.

Democrats have no interest in holding down education spending. In fact, they take pride in increasing it. Anyone hwo thinks we can;t save a ton of money on education has not seen new schools lately. Public high schools have state of the art health clubs, pools, artificial turf athletic fields, etc. They spent $500k in Dc to build an artficial turf soccer field for a middle school. A middle school! This is the worst school system in the country, where they are chronically short textbooks, etc, despite the Department of Education being larded with hundreds of highly paid "administrators." And they can afford that kind of extravagance?

Stepping onto a university campus is like going to an expensive resort. They have every known extravagance from athletic facilites to golf courses to hundred million dollar facilities for sports teams, etc etc. Professors barely do any workand spendmost of their time trolling for grants. Administrators are paid like investment bankers.

Good private schools here in San Diego cost $10-12k a year. The state of california spends $13k per student.

Why not just disband public education and give every student $10k to go to private school?

The Government shouldn't be in the education business anyway.

The best test of a politician's sincerety is what they do themselves. I doubt there is a single member of congress who sends their kids to DC public schools. Certainly Obama doesn't. Neither did Clintons.

Likewise, they have a gold-plated health care system. If you want to get a cold stare from your representative at a town hall meeting, ask him to pledge to withdraw from the congressional health care system and use the "public option" that he wants you to be stuck with.

I have a question Rush (as aaa has named you)?

Do you have to be from a "huckin and jivin' place to comment on "huckin and jivin'?

BTW: (it's actually "shucking and jivin'" there street boy)
:D

Quote from Pa(b)st Prime:

Lotta black folks up there in the Dakota's?

I notice this phenomenon on ET. The diversity plus dudes are always from huckin and jivin' places like Toronto, Lake Tahoe, the Dakota's, Australia. Pretty easy to be Joe Outreach when you live in a state with less blacks than a medium sized Chicago housing project....

Quote from Ricter:

Other developed nations have made a more public health-care system work, is it really something "a little Yankee ingenuity" can't make work here?

There is lots of evidence that it hasn't really worked almost anywhere... The Brits TRIPLED spending on their healthcare when Labour took over... and they really are having their form of the "Obama Death Panels"... they decide who is terminal and they let them die... and babies by the THOUSANDS have been born outside hospitals due to lack of rooms... forget that shit...

But Obama man, he must have American Ingenuity in spades... he's going to bring in 45 million people whether they are here legally or not, not add a single doctor, cut costs, and all that without rationing care..... I'd bet that once somebody is outed as a Republican that the last thing they would want to do on earth would be to turn their health over to Obama and his health care.... The VA was sued, and it was proven at one point, in a court of law, that the anti war crowd had taken over whole hospitals and were practically torturing ex military guys..

Sarah has authored a very intelligent article about whats happening with this Democratic plan.

Never thought I would hear anyone mentioning Sarah Palin and very intelligent in the same sentence.
