The Kremlin has not confirmed Putin's visit to Turkey. Vlad's paranoia may cause a change in plans.
Allegedly, Putin is going to discuss an extension of the Black Sea Grain Deal, a prisoner swap, and options for ending the war. Erdogan has already met with Zelensky. So, in general, I think Putin should be left alone while he is there if he goes. I don't mind giving the enemy safe passage to negotiate.
Most likely Vlad does not want to go- for a number of survival reasons- but the Chinese are putting pressure on him to meet with the various persons/countries that are offering to negotiate settlement of issues. The west/Americans know that Erdogan is a snake but they are willing to let him look ballsy and get credit for some things in return for his approval of Sweden entering Nato.
I would rather see Putin meeting with Erdogan the Snake than with Macron.

Trump is actually a complicated situation.
He is likely to pressure Ukraine to give up the Donbass and Crimea so he would a nightmare for Zelensky in that regard.
On the other hand, Trump would be a nightmare for Putin if Putin still has plans to take all of Ukraine or to mess with a Nato country. Even today, you have Russian planes harassing American fighter jets off of Alaska and in Syria. Trump would make a call to Putin and that would be the end of it.
The problem for Ukraine with Biden, is that he talks big but is leading Ukraine into a long stalemate in the east because he has not provided the weapons to end it. The only reason they are getting into cluster bomb bullshit is because the Ukrainians have no air cover and are low on artillery shells. They have slowly received new tanks but tanks need air cover.
So the war goes into a stalemate. Then if Biden is re-elected that means that China will move on Taiwan. And then Russia will advance in Ukraine while the Americans are occupied with the Taiwan invasion.
Unfortunately, if the Ukrainians do not sever the land bridge to Crimea sometime in the next three months it will be difficult. But it cannot wait until next summer because by then everyone, Putin included, are just waiting for the American elections. If Ukraine can make it to the Sea of Asov and hold that ground then probably Putin will be the one who cannot make it.
If Ukraine severs Crimea from the rest of Russia, Putin will pay a price at home. A big price. Next summer is too late though. And this summer is rapidly passing.
