Russia & Ukraine

Probably not. But, can you prove that NATO was not planning to attack Russia by expanding towards its borders? Because this is the conclusion that the US would undeniably arrive at if an anti-American alliance would be expanding towards the US borders. “If you know a fight is about to start, you must make the first move” (Putin).

The neighbors of Russia have endured over 100 years for terror and brutality from Russia -- -whether under the name of the Russian Federation or the Soviet Union. These countries quite willing joined NATO in the past few decades so they would not have to endure the oppression from Russia in the future. This is about countries trying to escape the grasp of violent dictators and live in democratic peace --- it is not about "NATO planning to attack Russia" which is simply an absurd Kremlin narrative pushed by demented Russian nationalist who desire to conquer every free country nearby and re-unite the Soviet Union.

China is playing the long game with Ukraine too.

They will be more than happy to rebuild/ invest in all those eastern ports and mining ventures in the Donbass if the Russians stay and also if they are moved out by the Ukrainians.

Ukraine will willing take their bucks, arguing that the Americans and the west have not given enough to rebuild. Xi can swing his Belt and Road initiative right through Ukraine. Not a prob.

russia probably believes that - whatever comes - big and mighty china will be the solution to all their troubles - right?

well - good luck with that

china has more than enough big problems for the coming decades and they surely don't want russia to be overly strong and self-confident

this war is a gift to china and the outcome and the long term consequences will be so all the more

and xi is a snake, as we know

Xi's plans (or hopes) for this conflict is to see Russia reduced to being a vassal state of China --- coupled with China being able to effectively seize in the long term the eastern regions of the Russian Federation through financial, diplomatic, and military means.

How my view looks like. You know that some blocked russian Einsteins are going full force.
