I am perfectly willing to debate politics based on facts and accept the opinions of others. However the basis of the debate needs to be facts --- not twisted nonsense devoid of reality. Sadly our national politics have sunk to new lows --- where facts don't matter. This can be called the "Trump effect".

I personally draw the line when people started pushing all sorts of fabrications which undermine public health -- in the case of Covid this misinformation caused tens of thousands of deaths. Even before the pandemic struck I found anti-vaxxers to be unacceptable. Before 2020 these anti-vax people were a minor fringe group, most of them "naturalist" crunchy-granola liberals. Now the majority of MAGA crowd constantly spew anti-vax Covid-denier talking points --- plus all sorts of other fantasies such as the Big Lie.

This is their modus operandi - deny, project, be irrational, illogical, use of ad hominum and generally attempt to get an emotional reaction to claim they (at an narcissistic level) have "won."

The reality is that most of these characters are not on ET in this forum to have an honest conversation about politics. Their intent is simply to troll, push misinformation, and insult others -- they are not interested at all in a civil conversation regarding political matters. Nor in any exchange based on facts.

At this point -- the only counter to this constant stream of misinformation is to provide the facts from reputable sources with links to counter the regular pile of crap from bullshiat mountain found in these threads. Sadly this is what the level of discourse has sunk to.

I will note additional whenever I lay out my opinions on an issue such as gun control -- no one engages in an actual debate regarding the points --- because people seem to prefer trolling.

Crimea must be returned to Ukraine.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this at the second Crimean Platform summit, which is taking place online.

“We consider the seizure of Crimea illegal, unconstitutional. This is our principled position in terms of moral and legal. International law requires that Crimea be returned to Ukraine. This is important for the entire region and for the global security system,” he stressed.

According to him, Crimean Tatars are Ukrainian citizens and Crimea should develop in their interests. He added that the “Crimean Platform” is of extreme importance, and “the Crimean Tatars, who have endured great suffering in their history, are fighting for a peaceful life in their homeland.”

“In this process, Turkey continues to support the Ukrainian government and the Crimean Tatars,” Erdogan stressed.
