Russia & Ukraine

When we invaded Iraq our nationalism was very high and polls showed support for the war in the in the mid sixties prior to invasion and into the 70s post invasion.

I do not doubt Russian nationalism is very high right now and can spill over into all kinds of topics. Don’t forget Poland is very much a villain in Russia right now. The Polish have vocally opposed this war, equipped the Ukrainians and even were ready to hand over their Migs until the US stopped the transfer. Russian pundits are on TV vocalizing striking Warsaw with a nuclear weapon and Poland is raising forces as we speak.

We’re the questions asked in the poll reflective of the message the Russian media is feeding the Russian population, yes. I have to ask though, if Russia were to attack Poland would the Russians use similar language to justify attacking Poland? The answer is most likely yes.

Now with that said, I don’t know anything about the methodology of the poll or who conducted it - all I’m saying is that the Russian population right now is probably high as hell with nationalism and would respond to almost any military action favorably.

How many Russians do you speak with regularly? I'm only asking because of how sure you are about how Russians feel. You seem like you're linked to a large community of them or something.

I actually do know a few people who immigrated from Russia. One through work related IT stuff and another through a friend. I have not spoken to any of them about this topic.

What I will say is that as we can see from our own experiences with Iraq public support can get very high for military actions that in hindsight are very dubious.

Its amazing that a Publix grocery bagger would even know just what a "bookkepper" does, much less know how to spell it properly.
When you find a Publix grocery bagger (look at Publix BTW, not at your usual Dollar store of choice) ask them how much is 1 + 1 for your future reference.

Bitching, bitching while Ukrainians continue to be killed - and Russian Soldiers.

I hope the apologists are proud of the job they are doing for Putin.

One of the biggest problems the West continues to have is that it thinks Russians think like Westerners. I shake my head all the time at it.
