Rush gets himself in trouble...damn liberals!

Quote from aphexcoil:

My problem isn't with Rush's drug use, but rather how hypocritical the man truly is.

"There's nothing good about drug use, We know it. It destroys individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up."

Rush Limbaugh 1995

"If(Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders) wants to legalize drugs, send the people who want to do drugs to London and Zurich, and let's be rid of them.

-- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec 9, 1993

"By legalizing drugs, all you're going to do is define further deviancy downward. We have a duty to pass on values to our descendants, values that will maintain the standards of behavior and ensure the survivability of the American way of life. And drugs are no different. You end up destroying more than yourself."

-- Rush Limbaugh Playboy interview, December 1993

"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too."

-- Rush Limbaugh show, Oct. 5, 1995

Send Rush to Jail. He'd make a good punk bitch, probably squeals like a pig.

He's a complete hypocrite, a liar, a demagogue. Despite his 285 million contract, I'll buy him a first class one way ticket to Zurich or London.

Rush is nothing more than an entertainer who gives his fans affirmation of their political and social ideas.

Let's make sure that you are on the right page in your outcry here. All those comments were directed towards illegal drugs and their pushers. I also feel that illegal drug use gets too much of a pass. Especially if the perp has $$. I do not equate this Rush situation and crack usage/users. This sounds like prescribed use that got out of hand. I would ask where was the doctor who should have been monitoring all this.

Secondly, I listened to the show as he was explaining his plight. Never once did he blame some evil hidden group of folks out to get him. Nor did he take the fifth. He didn't ask that the listeners to contribute to the Rush-Needs-Help fund either.

I do look forward to his return and as a loyal listener, I will wait to determine my take on the whole event until I have more facts to work with. :)

I love Rush but I've never been totally on board with his anti-drug message. Of course, there is some hypocrisy involved, although I do think there is a difference in developing a dependence to medication prescribed by your physician and recreational drug use.

In a sense though, this proves the wisdom of Rush's position. He is getting treatment largely because his drug use became a legal matter. If it was not illegal, it would have been a lot easier to continue and get into even bigger health problems.

I am sure Rush is acutely aware of the awkward position he put himself in, and that makes the pain and embarrassment even worse for him.

No they were not. They were directed toward users. Read it again.

this is the type of spin i hope Rush doesn't resort to after his rehab. if he has this mindset during treatment they will chew him a new one. bottomline, he got busted (not literally) and now needs to own it...........$20 says he still won't consider himself an addict.

And the last I checked, buying drugs without a prescription = illegal drug purchase and use. (Sorry, Chet, I actually meant to respond to the post above about the "crack" etc.)...

Has MAX401 verified this information for us??? :D
You'll remember what the RS7 response was, his personal "combat" experiences, that he related as his own, turned out to be an embellished compilation that was not his claimed experiences.

Yes, I agree. It was towards the users of illegal drugs primarily. And in that I am in total agreement. There is no basis for valid crack usage. And to those involved with it, I would have very little issue with a solid jail sentence. :)

I expect your payment right away then. That was the first thing he declared. :)
