Quote from CaptainObvious:
There's a really simple solution to all this nonsense. Send a letter out to every taxpayer. The question is simple:
Do you support the Presidents Healthcare plan?
A yes vote means that you are willing to be taxed at whatever rate it takes to pay for the plan. A no vote means you will not see any increase in your taxes should the plan be put in place. The yes voters will pay for the entire deal.
Moral of the story...you want to play good samaritan, you do it on your dime, not mine.
Quote from Kassz007:
The same analogy can be used to for the USA system. Non-socialized medicine is fine as long as you don't overheat. At which point it becomes unaffordable to repair your car.
But a sizeable percentage of your population cannot afford it! So are you saying fuck your countrymen? And didn't Obama say that if you like your existing health insurance plan that you would be able to keep it?Quote from AlpineTrout:
Your statement implies that noone here in the USA can afford to have a major operation or procedure should they need one. That's what my insurance is for. I have health insurance and so do most other Americans. My family & I do not have to wait through insanely, ridicuolus wait times for medical procedures either, like you folks do. Why would any sane, rationally thinking person want socialized medicine, unless they absolutely couldn't afford insurance?
were we given the opportunity to do that for the bush war?Quote from CaptainObvious:

Perhaps, culturally, this is where America is different from that of other countries. The willingness to have a little less in order to give a fellow citizen in need a little more.
