Romney Looks Like the Next Pres

Quote from atticus:

I agree with some of what you state... but there isn't any practical private solution; and no solution unless we move to a universal system. The only private analog for seniors currently -- the whole and term life insurance industry. Go get a quote on a $500k policy representing a 65yo. A 20Y term policy is ~$7k/year in premium [Transamerica, ZERO pre-existing, no smoking). Of course this is simply a $500k death benefit that you pay as much as $140k into. Worst-case is a $360k return to your heirs. Please contrast that to a $60k premium ($120k avg income over 35Y) paid to Medicare for unlimited LIVING benefits that BEGINS at 65.

I get what you're saying and it holds weight even though it isn't apples to apples because unlimited living bennies can obviously exceed the fixed value death benefit. Since I'm not an ins underwriter I can't give estimated private rates for seniors, but I'll give you the next best thing.

I just went on my own providers website which is BCBS and applied for quotes as a 64 year old, and I went on ehealthinsurance.com and did the same. You can log in if you want cause it's all made up. Joe Smith, email:smitty1mil@yahoo, phone 310-395-3999 i think. I changed the settings for 2500-5k ded., no or low coinsurance, and rx included. teh cheapest prem was 514/m and i'm guessing that is the preferred rate. I know it was from my provider which was about $75 less per month. if you smoke or have preexisting conditions you won't be getting this rate so let's assume you don't. My basic rate was about 2x so this 514 plan becomes 1028/m or 17,336/year (with deductible). There are still copays for office visits so let's just say 18k out of pocket max. That isn't bad and with the other stuff I listed like the tax credits and passing through the costs to the younger crowd, this might be feasible.. shit I think i have an 10k out of pocket max and i'm in my 20's. it will be higher for even older folks but what can we do, they cost more. I think we all need to accept the reality that hc costs have moved up in the world. When i was a kid my Grandfather used to tell me "your house and your car are the most expensive things you are ever going to buy". Now hc has moved into that list and might be #1 considering everything.. we all have to plan accordingly. I have been on degenerate binges to Foxwoods and Mohegan during the day, all you see is seniors blowing their SS wads in slot machines lol. There is no reason they can't kick that money towards staying alive instead.

cherry picking polls my ass... if you look at (analyze) any poll which gives you the party ID numbers you see the same thing...

the margin for or against a candidates on particular days... are very similar by party... it has not changed much for weeks... its just a question of poll weighting. If you weight for Dems you get Obama up... If you balance you get Romney up a little.

but, you already knew that didn't you.

as far as intrade...
I already told you I would not make a bet which gives evidence of a potential crime to authorities...

so who gives a shit about intrade anyway... how did that supreme court decision work out for you.

Quote from atticus:

But you're not betting. You keep cherry-picking polls and you still lose. Stating it's within the MOE is pointless.

The Romney to win bet on intrade just hit NLs (since he became presumptive nominee)

Let's be clear. I never threatened you. You threatened me and I am prepared to defend myself. Any time, asshole.

Hahaha, we let the courts decide, Wallace. So you say we're clear? Were you planning on beating me with your cane, because threatening gun violence is a no-no. It's Federal, in fact.
