that's nice and all but it was the dems and obama that passed the bill. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patient_Protection_and_Affordable_Care_Act there is no dodging this. It is 100% on their shoulders as are any consequences of it being killed OR upheld.

Any repubs that support or condone these ideas aren't really conservative. Romney is not my ideal candidate but he is an easy choice when compared to obama.

@ Ak - No it isn't. It was the dem controlled house, senate, and presidency that passed the bill despite total repub opposition. It is really disingenuous of you guys to even try to argue this as somehow a repub idea.. when NONE of them voted for the damn bill. geez.

One minute the author is telling us these kids don't get sick and the next minute he pretends we need them to pay for the rest of the unisured but sick pool..

These young people don't have health care because they don't get sick and they don't have the money.

Obama Campaign Hits Romney on Outsourcing, Fee Hikes in New Ads





The Obama campaign does not paint a pretty picture of the presumptive GOP nominee in two new attack ads released on Wednesday.

“Mosaic” outlines hits Romney’s record as the governor of Massachusetts, specifically going after his cuts on services and tax cuts for the rich.

“As governor, Mitt Romney did cut taxes … on millionaires like himself,” the narrator says. “But he raised taxes and fees on everyone else … $1.5 billion.”

The narrator then lists over a dozen services where Romney supposedly raised fees: “Health care, on school bus rides, on milk, on driver’s licenses, one nursing homes, on lead poisoning prevention, on meat and poultry inspection, on fishermen and gun owners, on nurses, on electricians, on hospitals, on funeral homes, on mental health services, on hospice care, on elevator repair.”

The ad concludes with the campaign’s now-familiar kicker: “Romney economics didn’t work then, and won’t work now.”

The other ad, “Come and Go,” is familiar to other ads the Obama team has run against Romney’s Massachusetts record, including attacking him for outsourcing jobs to China, India and Mexico.

The Romney campaign called the ads a distortion, saying the Obama campaign is mischaracterizing his record in the Bay State.

“These misleading ads are the latest effort by the Obama campaign to distract attention from the president's failed policies that have led to high unemployment and falling incomes,” Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in a statement. “Mitt Romney was a successful businessman and governor with a decades-long record of helping to create American jobs, in contrast to President Obama's hostility to free enterprise that has left millions of Americans out of work. It's still the economy and the American people aren't stupid.”

Both ads will air in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Colorado and Nevada.

Bloomberg Poll Shows Big But Questionable Obama Lead

WASHINGTON -- A new Bloomberg News national poll shows President Barack Obama leading Republican challenger Mitt Romney by a surprisingly large margin of 53 to 40 percent. Could it be right?

The case for this poll being a random outlier is strong. As MSNBC host Joe Scarborough put it Wednesday morning, "Thirteen points just doesn't seem to be in line with what we've been hearing."

Other surveys conducted in recent weeks have shown a generally closer race. The HuffPost Pollster chart, based on all available public polls, gives Obama a slight lead of 46.0 to 44.7 percent. If we set aside the Bloomberg polls and also exclude others (Rasmussen Reports and Gallup) that tend to skew more for Romney, Obama's lead would expand to just over three points (47.2 to 44.1 percent). But even under those very favorable assumptions for the president, Bloomberg's June poll still stands out.

Democrats outpace GOP in voter registrations


CARSON CITY (AP) — Nevada Democrats outpaced Republicans in new voter registrations leading up to the state primary.

The secretary of state's office Friday reports that from May 1 through May 22 when primary registration closed, Democrats registered 4,322 active voters, compared with 2,254 registered by Republicans. The number of active registered nonpartisans increased by 2,544 during the same time period.

Statewide, Democrats now hold a 38,792 voter advantage over Republicans. But the gap is far less than the 100,000 voter edge Democrats had going into the 2008 general election.

Figures released by the Division of Elections today show Florida has 11.2 million voters, with 40.5 percent registered as Democrats and about 36.2 percent as Republicans. The gap of 4.3 percentage points between Democratic and Republican registrations compares to a 5.8-point gap that favored Democrats heading into the 2008 presidential election.

In November 2006, Democrats held a roughly 600,000-voter edge with 3.9 million registered voters to the Republicans’ 3.3 million. The number now stands at 4.1 million Democrats to 3 million Republicans.

The 2012 election will come down to turnout, he said. With a margin that still tops 1.1 million, Democrats have a huge advantage if they can motivate those voters to show up at the polls. But by narrowing that advantage, Republicans put more pressure on the turnout effort, he said.
