Rolled Back to the Old ET

avatars, bit juvenile aren't they, a bit passé

what I did Not like about the upgrade was the loss of all the forums being displayed
with the last 5 threads. not displaying them all in a list means I haven't bothered
clicking on 37 individual forums to see what's been updated - Far too much wasted
time to do so
listing all the forums and last 5 threads invites reading, listing the forums only does
not invite reading, and advertising isn't seen

must have Member and posts quantity, 'active' isn't enough

so far as I'm concerned ET was always the best designed, layed-out forum of those
I'm a member of and visited, a 'grownup's' site, very efficient to use both as a reader
and poster, not requiring excess time to use
d'you know just how many sites require one's attention these days, how much time
one has to give to all that reading ?

I hated that new version - hard to read, and a real turnoff. Thanks for rolling back to the original. Some good things are just better left alone.

I happen to like the old-style smilies.

Two things from the new format that were good:

1 - Alerts
2 - The following/follower thing. That was real interesting; apparently I have some stalkers, as opposed to folks who like me; I could tell instantly who was one and who was the other. Which is why I very carefully make sure nothing that can identify me in any real way gets posted publicly around here. I like this place, but the internet makes it possible for anyone at all to zero in on and get to you. Better to not make it easier than it already is.
 
am definitely not one opposed to change. but, as a professional graphic designer, i have to say for any human being, it is much easier on the eyes to read black text on a warm gray background (rather than high contrast black on white). there were a number of other particular design oddities in the "upgraded" site, as well. but, no need to go into them. the point above is the most major.

i am sure those adjustments could have been managed with the new software, however. so, sorry your efforts didn't work out. this is the best message board there is, though. will go check out some sponsored links, now.

And thanks Baron. I know exactly what you're talking about, as do we all, I'm sure, about staying up 24/7 on a project that constitutes your life mission. Sucks when you have to pull back, but it happens to all of us. Good luck in the future on improving the site.

Why so? he has a lot to share (which you obviously don't) and he is willing to share. That is commendable.
