How to protest without causing a catastrophe is a tricky one in a time of rising.. Actually risen totalitarianism. There is a horribly familiar naivety to the idea that it can't get worse, it really really can but there is little arguing that the bottom 20 percent of the US has been struggling for decades now. But.. Do they actually matter? If it is not them struggling it will be outsourcing struggling to other countries.

I've always liked NOTA, none of the above systems combined with threshold and 2nd preference, not first past the post. Then the losers past a threshold can transfer their vote so spoiler candidates are less of an issue. If you can't get enough of the electorate out, it runs until you do.

Not very far from Medellin Colombia in the north of the valley is Bello where in 2011 The NOTA option won the vote forcing a re-run.
