There are several ways one could interpret this chart. One is above the $50,000 income level, given the small percentage differences between party affilliations, the higher earning people are unlikely to significantly influence the outcome of elections. On the other hand, the large group of voters earning under $50,000 skew much more towards Democrats and may be a more volatile segment of voters. This may explain why the media and political advertisements seem to more often use emotionally based arguments instead of reasoning.
