Like Ron Paul, I do not believe that Al Qaeda was justified in the 911 attack. But like Ron Paul, I realize that <i>in their own minds</i> the leadership of Al Qaeda considered themselves to be justified due to:

1. Our keeping military bases in Saudi Arabia.

2. Our sanctions against Iraq that had resulted in the deaths of thousands of Iraqis.

3. Our one sided support of Israel no matter what they do to the Palestinians. (Cue in Trader666's accusation of anti-Semitism.)

The fact is that our interventions inspire blow back, sometimes highly disproportionate to whatever we did. The Swiss have about as much freedom as we do. If the Islamists merely hate our freedoms, why didn't they attack the Swiss? And if the neocons love our freedoms, why did they give us the TSA and the Patriot Act?

Reminds me of traveling. Every bar overseas seems to have an ex-pat Brit who claims to be ex-SAS and reminds everyone of it repeatedly. Its a running joke in southeast asia.

Also, sayin' a thing doesn't necessarily make it true. Seems to me we have quite a few chicken hawks running around these parts...all day long cluck cluck clucking about war and how we should wage it left right and sideways...without the foggiest notion of what it means to be in combat...completely disconnected from the reality of it...bottom feeders who advocate spending our soldiers lives like it was a fiat currency.

I think it is important that people realize the cost of these decisions is measured in human lives, misery and suffering. We should not take them lightly or mock them. We should not pretend we are playing Call of Duty. In combat, there are no save points.

Well in my humble opinion DAS Trader clearly won an argument Other guys just started insulting and personal attacks which indicates that argument probably should be over.
I think there is no need to insult Ron Paul or his supporters if you don't like their ideas, everyone has right to its own opinion and everyone should respect that. And forbidding candidate from debate because you don't like his ideas is really stupid - then you will have all candidates that basically agree with each other on everything but minor points..
Ironically I guess Taliban or Al Qaeda or some dictator in Africa or middle east also have such strong beliefs and hate other opinions with same passion Don't you become one you hate most?
