The distinction between legal and illegal immigration can be useful, but the immigration problem facing us involves both aspects. Our leaders have encouraged illegal immigration. Clinton, Bush and now Obama have all encouraged it. So now we have an enormous population of illegals, and the response of the establishment is to declare it a fait accompli that we have to accept.
Trump and his supporters disagree. No one is saying you have to deport 100% of them anytime soon, but you do need to streamline procedures for boooting out the criminals and undesirables. We need to cut off welfare for them, which will probably involve a nasty battle with politicized federal judges.
We need to address legal immigration as well however. We should scrap the Kennedy law that favors third world immigrants. We need to repeal family unification, which drives the whole anchor baby scam. We need to change the federal policy of granting birth citizenship to the children of illegals. And obviously, we need to restrict refugee status to people who are truly being personally persecuted and who clearly represent no threat to us.
