The effort to push out Harvard President Claudine Gay is not done yet... the big money alumni have revolted and are demanding she be shown the door due to her failure to protect students and
past plagiarism -- despite
a recent decision to keep her. Very similar to what happened at Penn. This controversy is not over yet.
A similar situation is going on MIT. The alumni -- including big money alumni -- have stepped up and demanded that
MIT President Sally Kornbluth be sent packing.
It should be clear that Elaine Stefanik did not bring down these university presidents, they brought down themselves from their disastrous testimony but more due to their failure to act appropriately as university presidents to stop antisemitic hate on their campuses.
The most grievous example is
Penn President Liz Magill's support of the "Palestine Writes Literature Festival" held in September at Penn. The majority of the speakers at this "festival" had long histories of calling directly for the elimination of Israel and the murder of all Jews. And not just saying "from the river to the sea" but calling directly for these violent actions. This was outlined to Liz Magill well in advance of the "festival" but she still allowed it to be held.
Sorry, Liz -- a "free exchange of ideas on campus" and “open expression and academic freedom” does not include hosting conferences calling for the wholesale murder of groups of people. Even before October 7th, Liz Magill was under fire with alumni demanding she be fired. The start of the Hamas war and her disastrous testimony just accelerated the process.
