In fact, I remember earlier in the summer of 2020, Trump stated at one of his rallies that the Republican-run states were not lockdown in comparison to the Democratic-run states that were lockdown. The crown at the rally cheered him insanely.

In fact, Trump blamed the governors of the Democratic-run states for locking down the economy of those states.

In reality, we all know the United States economy had been shut down including the border for a while. Yet, we need to keep in mind that the shutdown of the U.S. economy in a Pandemic that had no vaccines and no approved medical treatments at that moment in time...

The shutdown saved 900k to 2.7 million lives after they compared the number of deaths avoided through extreme lockdown measures with the number of deaths that might be expected from the long-term effects of the economic shutdown.

Regardless of how Trump twisted the narrative about whom shut down the U.S. economy...he consistently blamed it on China and the U.S. governors. At last check, the U.S. governors fall under the Trump administration...not China. Just as important, the Republican-run states are part of the United States.

Simply, when the United States shut down...the Republican-run states also shut down. Unfortunately, the Trump administration mishandling and misinformation / disinformation during the Pandemic made it much worst for the American people than it needed to be...the latter he could not blame on China but attempted to blame it on Biden / Harris when we all know Biden was not President at that point in time (summer of 2020)

Exactly and I still vividly remember his attacks on Michigan that caused his cult followers to storm the Michigan capitol and then later some far-right group hatched a plan to kidnap and murder the governor.

Never an apology from Trump and barely a recognition of shock about what had occurred when those involved in the insidious plot to get the governor of Michigan.

In my opinion, this is when Trump realized he can say what he wanted on Twitter to get his cult followers to do his bidding...it would then set the stage for the January 6th, 2021 Insurrection on the Capitol and on Democracy.
