Forgetting to hit another "F" on the keyboard is far different than using the wrong word. Conscious is to be aware of something. Conscience is that internal feeling that is intangible and given to you by God for morality purposes.

talking about the concept of original sin:

So your god was so offended by this disobediance (eatting tree of knowledge), he saw fit to not only punish the perpetrators but also their descendants for the rest of eternity. Bit harsh wouldn't you think? I guess you god doesn't go for the notion of "let the punishment fit the crime".

Furthermore, only a few chapters later we have god having to make another judgement: what to do with Cain, who has just slain his brother in cold blood.
You might think, if eating the fruit of a forbidden tree is deserving of eternal punishment, what would happen to someone who willfully takes another's life?
Astonishingly, after some stern words and condemning him to be a "restless wanderer" (which he already was anyway), god goes and bestows a mark of protection on him, so that nobody would dare kill Cain.

Holy Smokes! WHat a grave injustice! The desire for knowledge (eating from the tree of knowledge) gets eternal hardship, cold-blooded murder gets divine insurance. What a cruel joker this god is!

well, what exactly is the moral we are supposed to learn from all this?
secondly, i wish these guys would go and tell Duane Gish and his buddies at the ICR that genesis wasn't meant to be taken seriously - these guys are using a literal interpretation of it to smuggle their Creatonist "science" into school textbooks
 
Looks like I will have to ponder the existence of god, God, or GOD.

I will think about it, and come up with a definitive answer. One that even Thunderbolt and Gordon Gekko will both agree with.

How will I accomplish this? Even I am not fully sure just yet, but trust me, I will have an answer. I will have my answer confirmed by Daniel and Darkhorse and Axeman and Nitro. Even my buddy Fasterpussycat.

Stay tuned for a revelation! (I am completely serious).

The theory of relativity is so well known that it's featured in farside cartoons. So yes, the formulaic version can be put on a message board. But do you understand it? Can you explain it to me in a post or two- and while you're at it, throw in all the deeper implications of it too? Can you share with me, in a few paragraphs, why the theory of relativity is valid, what its justification is based on, and why I should accept it?

Let's go back to when Einstein brought this theory about. Do you think it was instantly accepted by the scientific community at large? Maybe Einstein just popped into the big surfer lab and said 'yo dudes, E=MC2' and all the scientist surfer dudes just nodded and gave a thumbs up and said 'ya mon, riiiight ooonnnnn.'

Uh, no. More like he expounded on the theory over countless hours of thought and study and theorizing and it took a significant amount of time for the scientific community to UNDERSTAND the theory of relativity and why it should be held true, let alone digest its broader implications. And there was no doubt significant opposition at first, and those who were really interested studied it carefully, along with all its implications, and did not try to 'wing it' in terms of understanding.

In other words, if a skeptical physicist on a Princeton bulletin board would have said yo Steinie baby where's the beef on this relativity thing prove it to me sweetcheeks, he would have said IT'S TOO BIG FOR A COUPLE POSTS ON A BOARD.

So thank you, once again, for cementing my point, albeit against your will, in a post of stunning depth all round.

I'm not God, so that question would be out of my league. I simply except the fact that he is FAR superior than anyone. He has his reasons for everything. How can you say what he does is cruel? Are you on the same intellectual level as GOD? I think not. I've given him the credit and praise he deserves for his glorious creation. So, why then would I--or anyone--question his motives? Your lack of humility prevents you--and others on this board--from having a relationship with the almighty. That relationship would indeed advance your wisdom and knowledge that you so desperately need. JESUS IS LORD!
