Guys, if you have any more questions, just walk into (or call) you local First Baptist church and ask away. They will be happy to answer all your questions.

Later.

What about Catholics, Southern Babtists and mormons? Obviously, Jews, Buddhists and Hindus are already counted out.

Guys, this is a trading forum. Let's get back to discussing trading ideas and related issues.
This thread is not a trading thread, and its funny how you quickly turn your back! If you no longer want to participate, then just don't. Simple!

True, but taking the other side of every argument can have dangerous repercussions (and I'm not just talking about religion here).

Actually, playing devil's advocate, even with one's self, helps us to develop and refine our critical thinking skills, as well as to consider thoroughly issues we are pondering. Not taking or considering the other sides to arguments is what leads to indoctrination and ignorance!!

Hopefully, I've cleared up what I can and won't be posting in this thread again. Again, if anyone has anymore questions, just visit or call your local First Baptist Church and they will answer you questions.
There's that "First baptist" stuff again. Wow, you aren't even very accepting of other denominations.

Guys.... there is nothing wrong with Darkhorse.
I have other friends like that...its very common.

Very bright, smart rational, etc, but the second you
start talking religion, a switch goes off in their head
and all logic and reason goes right out the window.

Its quite amazing to watch up close.

They debate perfectly, and wont give a millimeter without
you providing ample evidence for your position,
but require virtually NO evidence to believe in god.
god is a "special case" for some reason.
Reality is too scary to handle for some poeple, so they
invent god. Its simple....like trading when the light
bulb goes off :)

I think its genetic wiring or something.

Darkhorse, until now I've always respected and apprecaited the enlightened conversations we've had. But now you sound like a totally different and intolerant person, as well as like a person who has a huge complex. "

I don't go for all that pan reconciliation crap, because I know this is a war." Geeeeez, you sound like a terrorist. No reconcilliation huh? This is the definition of religious intolerance. I don't have to give a history and current events lesson for any educated person to recognize what this leads to!

I still can't believe this is the same guy who offered some great thoughts on various subjects, including religion, and was so reasonable and rational. Did you develop a tumor since March/April????

And this says it all. Your imaginary friend is better than their imaginary friend.

Religion is not the problem. Intolerance is. You believe in Jesus, so you cannot accept Allah. They are on the other side. How can anyone be so sure the other is wrong? I haven't seen any proof first hand of any religious foundations. And yet I accept the fact that they exist for those that believe. Which is cool with me.

No defense for 9/11. Fanatics exist in every religion. Was the Inquisition or the witch hunts or the crusades any more acceptable because they were done in the name of christianity?

I have nothing against any particular religion. I just don't want to be forced to convert by ANYONE. If I wish to worship my rabbits foot keychain, I should be entitled to. And I am. It's in our constitution.

Very true!

Axeman, but in the past we've had religious discussions (such as in the one from March that was quoted in the beginning of this thread) where darkhorse WAS respectful, reasonable and rational! No he turned into what sounds like a hateful and dangerous man with a complex! Again I ask, what the hell happened? Did he forget to take his crazy pills?

Dark,

I think your a very bright guy, and I respect you, but....
Not everyone is bright in all areas, masters of all domains.

I have to disagree with your post below.
The trend is actually in the other direction.
At least among intellectuals/scientists.

Here are some stats for you.

The 1999, survey involved 517 members of the National Academy of Sciences. Our best and brightest in this country.

God Belief in 1999: 5%
God Belief in 1998: 7%
God Belief in 1933: 15%
God Belief in 1914: 27.7%

See a trend? Where do you think the 50EMA is? ha ha...

Interesting quote:

"Similarly, as intellectual historian Paul K. Conkin observes, "Today the higher the educational attainment, or the higher the scores earned on intelligence or achievement tests, the less likely are individuals to be Christians." "

These are great.

They nicely demonstrate what passes for logical discourse among atheists. Christians are mental midgets, snicker snicker.

You know what? I have to smile though.

You have no idea what's coming to you. And I'm talking about in this lifetime, let alone what's on the other side.

The church is currently in a state of disrepair, going through a period of weak kneed introversion and emotional based anti-intellectualism that has lasted for a century or so and is peaking right about now. This is why the only Christians you hear about these days are the ones that are easy to knock, the televangelist types and the end of the world types and that idiotic Left Behind series.

Enjoy the lull while it lasts, because it won't. Things change when the baton is passed from one generation to the next. You think you hate Christians now? Just wait until the church goes on the offensive and the intellectual roots of the church come back to the forefront. When the garbage is taken out and the new leadership takes hold, you will find yourself running into 'dumb Christians' more informed than you and smarter than you on every street corner. You will find them pushing our 'nonsense' on every television station and in every newspaper.

I don't go for all that pan reconciliation crap, because I know this is a war. It really and truly is. Christians vs atheists, Men vs monkeys, truth vs lies. We will give no quarter and take no quarter. You think one darkhorse is bad? Get ready to choke on an army of guys like me, backed with a sea of money and a sea of connections too. Get ready to be crushed. Maybe not ten years, maybe not even twenty or thirty, but believe me, it's going to happen.

I suggest you sign up for hate control classes in advance- you are gonna need them. Bad.
