"Rather Cut Off My Arm Than Pay Back What Greece Borrowed".... Varoufukis

long long ago we decided to make it legal to go bankrupt. Otherwise, the debtor is left with no hope other than to live a life of crime

It's fun and easy to loan money that you desperately want a rental income (the risk premium) on, but deny that you should take your medicine when the very reason for that risk premium becomes reality.

You gambled, you lost, suck it up, Gerry.

They've been sucking it up since the last bailout, moron.

Germany is only getting paid back as a result of German taxpayers giving Greece the money to pay it back.

I don't care whether they write off the previous debt or not. That's history. I just hate to think that German taxpayers are going to lend yet more money to a country that will never pay it back. If they do give them money, it should be clearly disclosed as a gift and not a loan, so when Germany has elections, their citizens can decide if they like gifting money away to Greece instead of being snookered into believing it's a loan they'll be paid back.

If a gift... doubt the German people will view supporting the Greek parasites any more favorably than we in America like supporting ours.

The krauts already did "support" the Greeks, with their loans up to the start of the recession.

and the funny thing, this is just like the 1950's. If we don't bail out Greece, Russia will. And that is the threat? How would YOU like to be bailed out by Russia?

But, but, Putin is such a real man, compared to Obama (see the shirtless photos!), who would NOT want to be bailed out by Russia?
: )

So let's describe an equivalent situation - you had a neighbor who comes begging for a loan to stop from going bankrupt... and after much mashing of teeth you give into their begging, not wanting to see a neighbor go down the drain and possibly messing up housing values for the whole neighborhood. Soon they are hitting you up for more money every year. But you start noticing things... like your neighbor spends endlessly, he has a new pool, multiple high-end cars, takes big vacations while appearing not to work... and then does nothing to stop his reckless spending despite your requests. And then you say - enough is a enough - but somehow you, the kindly neighbor, who lent the money to the neighbor is deemed the villain for cutting off the funding unless they reform.

and that is the fate of any communist. They all end up just like the Soviet Union. So why fight them? They will just destroy themselves. We spent billions if not trillions fighting an economy that since the day Stalin took over was doomed for failure. Who knows where we would be now if we had just let economies like the Soviet Union and Vietnam fail?
