Last time I was in SD we went to the county Admin. building. Just across the street and down a little ways was an aircraft carrier, docked and open to the public. Docked near it were numerous full-rigged sailing ships.

It was a really interesting area, almost surreal. We also went to Coronado and ate at the Del. My parents met there at the end of WWII at an officer's tea dance. Dad did OK in the Navy.

Wanna know something weird? In the almost 30 years that I've lived in San Diego, I've never been to the zoo or the Wild Animal Park.

I was on a tour of the harbor.
Saw a lot of the Navy vessels.
If a person hasn't ever seen those things up fairly close, it's an awesome sight.
Cool story about your folks meetup.

San Diego rocks!
LA rocks!
SF rocks!
The CA legislators suck!

Many years ago I had the priviledge of boarding the USS Missouri while it was on active duty. It was docked at Long Beach and there was a day for ex-Navy MIT grads. My uncle got us on board.

There were men with machine guns guarding it. I remember at the checkpoint, my stupid brother saying in a phony Russian accent, "Ve vould like to see your nuclear wessels."

I thought it would be awesome and it was. We got to see the breech of the 16 inch guns. Most of the electronic stuff and the missiles were hidden in compartments.

But the low, sleek battleship was dwarfed by the escort carrier docked next to it.

The other day wasn't too bad out so I decided to measure up and plan to build some floor to ceiling shelves in the garage.

Today was nice so I decided to go to HD and get some lumber but first double check my plans. I looked around the place is a friggin mess.

I came back in the house and thought for a while.

"Buy wood build shelves?" or "Throw some crap out and no build shelves".

I saved a hundred dollars on lumber threw a bunch of crap out and have plenty of room now.

I'm a big fan of banana boxes to store stuff. They have handles, are heavy duty and stack nice.
