R.I.P. - Don Bright

I've been informed that Don Bright of Bright Trading passed away last night at the age of 65. A true pioneer in the prop trading industry, Don has a special place in my heart because he was the first person who stepped up and said, "We believe in what you're doing with ET, and we want to become a sponsor of your site." And that was well over a decade ago.

For as long as I knew him, he always struggled with his weight and overall health, even making fun of himself at times for being overweight. But no matter what he was feeling on the inside, he was always a light-hearted person on the outside who was pleasant to do business with and super fun to hang around.

My sincere prayers go out to his family and close friends he's left behind.
 
I knew something was wrong as I had not heard from him in a couple of months. I havent seen him since last year in LV. He was overdue for a heart valve, but his health precluded the operation. Sad, sad news.

RIP my friend.
 
From what I gathered from his posts here at ET, Don seemed like a really nice, humble and knowledgeable guy. That's all I ever knew of him, but it was enough to form a favorable opinion of the man. I'm sorry to hear the news, and my condolences go out to those who knew Don personally.

I agree with surf. God bless Mr. Bright. I too met him a few times. I respected the brights, although I never met Bob. I started trading in their La Jolla office - I never had a money issue with them and they treated me well.

Very importantly to me, while I was trading full time, was that I think Bob represented the prop trading industry very well.
