Question: how to deal with trolls? Can't anybody do something about them?

I have no desire to convince them of anything. I'm simply presenting my case which differs from their views, and they've spent quite a bit of time bitching about trolls so they've had more than enough opportunity to present their views, and I'm simply presenting mine.

In reference to you, I simply clump you into the group by way of association! :D Many have shared their views about how the trolling here is very much also initiated by Db, and i960 and justtrading have both presented their case rather well which I fully agree with. You seem so put off by the trolls like Db and 40D are, and this I just don't understand when to me, the best reaction is simply to not have a reaction at all. So because you agree with their view, and my view differs, its been nice to have a discuss about it with you. So in a way, aiming my post towards you makes perfect sense when you do in fact share their viewpoint as well, so we can completely take them out of it, and just argue about the effect of trolls on this board.

But this has of course gotten us nowhere, and the fix should be in place soon which you, Db and 40D seem to fully support, so now we can get on with talking about trading.

Once again, if you got a problem with Db...talk to him although as I mentioned before to you, he may have you on ignore. I'm not sure. If you have a problem with 40D...talk to him. If you have a problem with i960...talk to him. If you have a problem with B1S2...talk to him. Don't talk to me about them considering my issues with trolling run much deeper than your membership date here.

I've already express my concerns to them. As for i960...that's a new name you just mention to me...not sure where you're going with that considering I don't know the person.

Thus, it does not make perfect sense.

As a reminder, the issue is Baron when you dig deeper. Go tell him best reaction is simply to not have a reaction at all and see how well that goes especially if/when it begins impacting his source of income...Elitetrader.com

Money talks and it talks to Baron when it comes to trolling.

Ah... something we can agree on. Doing what's best for members is one thing, but doing what's best for the website is another. The more clicks, the more revenue, and its hard to argue with this or even be against it when you consider this is a free service that clearly needs revenue to keep going.

I actually don't have that many issues. I think its a shame that things aren't more open and transparent here, but in many ways, ET provides ample opportunity and I'm certainly much further along because of it. I would have loved to converse with 40D, but that ship has sailed long ago for me and its something I accept.

See you on the next thread!

Here's a bit of advice: if one wants to avoid being blocked, he should avoid behaving like a jackass. Granted the concept of self-control, much less self-censorship, has gone the way of cursive writing and root-cellar construction and "dressing" for travel over the past twenty or thirty years and may vanish altogether, but there are consequences to unbridled self-indulgence. Being "blocked" is the least of them.

Just curious, but does this advice apply to your posts in the P+R section as well? Or is that excluded from evidence because of the nature of that particular forum?

Baron has excluded PR and Chit Chat. Thus, you can be a jackass, troll, harass, racist, disruptive and many other things in those two sections. Also, those two sections comes with a warning before entering the threads unless you direct link into the thread...

Politics & Religion

Not for the faint of heart. If you are easily offended, stay away from this forum!

I'm just a little surprise that Baron allows search engines to scan/cache those threads considering they contain a lot of problems on those islands. Also, I thought Baron said a few times that those two islands aren't on the Home Page but when I go to the home page (not logged in)...I can clearly see them at the bottom.

Maybe he meant they are listed only at the bottom of the Home page. Would be interesting to see a code implementation that showed the percentage of our hang out.

Example of someone:

46% Wall Street News
42% Trading Software
10% Politics & Religion
2% Technical Analysis

They also show up in New Off-Topic Posts. Plus the "Likes" are counted just like any other Likes.

If all of that is going to be kept in the cellar, the cellar door should remain closed.

Of course, one could just get rid of it entirely . . . :)

Funny, all those that don't agree with Op's being able to prevent those on their ignore list from posting in their threads...

Lets allow PR folks and Chit Chat to post their commentaries in any trading thread they want and then lets see if they still value "no censorship". ;)

And the taloned paws reach through the bars: Back! Back I Say!!

Hmmm. Ok, let me see. The thread starter has the power to silence anyone that participates in the thread that he doesn't like. If that's not called a conflict of interest, I don't know what is.
someone, you maybe(?), just deleted a post by me about user ·bone· in his thread. i was a client and caught him lying several times. you and your site are a joke, "baron".
