Question for Grob/Hershey

My 2 cents: the only time I drop down to the smaller timeframe is when things are moving very fast. During chop the worst thing you can do, imo, is go to a smaller timeframe. In your situation I would avoid trading chop altogether.

The only problem with this is to be able to recognize 'chop' when you need to. After the fact this is not difficult but it is of no use anymore. Trying to link time frames to chop, imagined or real, may be a poor strategy.
 
If you dont know when your'e in chop you got a problem alright. I was not linking chop to timeframes. Its just my opinion that if your in chop, to drop to a smaller timeframe and try to trade it is not appropriate for a new trader.
 
lol... actually noticed I was a bit vague. I wasn´t really meaning chop, I was more specifically thinking about a problem i got with the channels on a 5-minute chart. If you gonna follow grobs way of drawing them strict and then enter at the forth bar, it seems like price often has already started to move in a different direction.
