Put a Pencil in Your Mouth...

The power of now says that there is only fear or love and that shame is simply a type of fear. Some say that ego itself is simply a reflection of fear.

It is great fun to hunt for reasons, emotions, beliefs, puzzles, thoughts etc. but it is more productive to just put those away and see what happens. Focus, attention, flow etc. is one way to put those away.

Trading is great fun ( at least for me) but it is not our purpose for being where we are.

I always assumed everything originated from our thoughts.

I have been aware of something lately:

I can be going about my day, doing a task, and all of a sudden (so it seems) I will start worrying about something. There was no outside stimulus (that I am aware of) basically not being in the now moment, worrying over past/future.

I also noticed that the perfectionist side of me and trading doesn't mix very well.

Opps, I just got a call from Vanna saying I have used up my weekly allotment of a certain vowel.

Ammo, just replace I with it, so you don't go crazy reading my post.

From my memory of the Power of Now (may be wrong): .... Enlightenment is the end of suffering is the simple definition of the Buddha. But what's left when there is no suffering. He is silent on that, implying that you will have to find out for yourself .....

The I is in the beholder, but beauty is not. Great posts Tonkadad.

Cortisol is known as the stress hormone and reducing it will help us manage our stress levels.

1- Meditate
2- Sleep more and more deeply
3- Regular exercise
4- Avoid sugar
5- Take magnesium and vitamin C
6- Stop drinking coffee (I know)

Still tons more to come...

I am sleeping lighter and lighter and I think it is due to my cortisol level.

Good stuff, thanks for posting.

I know there is many "favor" regarding meditation, etc...
However, a major flow of many of these is lacking in people experiencing
"morality and ethics" or Sila. This is why the www.dhamma.org one - residential - is different , as the understanding of this Sila is really key for behavior modification.

A "problem" behavior occured because someone failed on the "morality&ethics".
Quiet difficult to explain , but this is why I do not bother with any meditation teaching that does not contain the "Sila" pilar.
Can you imagine being able to follow these basic codes on a day to day basis ?
"
to abstain from killing any being;
to abstain from stealing;
to abstain from all sexual activity;
to abstain from telling lies;
to abstain from all intoxicants.
"

But without experiencing the effects of these basic principles, I do believe one can not gain the full benefit of the personal change that meditation brings.

Regarding "Shame" : I have to say that I did work quiet hard with one of the psy on that one. And I'll say, there is always deep/profound reasons for shame. It is a very delicate aspect of psychology.

I don't know much about Sila or Buddhism. I imagine that there must be many ways to go with no one method favored.

I am told that while the Buddha practiced asceticism for a period, he didn't find enlightenment within those practices. Is that statement true?

For me, these beliefs involve judgments and not forgiveness. Judgment simply helps create more mind objects. And I aim for fewer mind objects to learn.

what you might want to do is for each one highlighted is to :
* take the opposite of it : prove the opposite, and find examples
* ask yourself for what purpose a "Higher Being", or God or whatever, would have created shame? Imagine, that once you have passed on the other side, this "Higher Being" or God or whatever asks you " I send you shame : what did you not understand?" what would be your answer?

Thanks to various psy, I have come to understand that many things are not that simple. But obviously each psy is necessary to bring to light various concepts and perspectives.

When I talk about "spirituality", it means the external "psychological" environment.
It is not really about religion , etc...
And "psychology" the internal "psychological" environment.

When, I trade a good "spiritual" environment means for me :
* no "hysterics" or "mad" people around who do not respect others, etc...
or in imagery "no demonic spirits" around.

When, I trade a good "psychological" environment means for me :
* a psychology with no negativity, only positivity inside me.

Feel free to question or point any incorrection.

To understand what you post better, what do you mean by "psy"?

interesting ideas - for life in general as well as trading.
A few weeks ago i came across this article which was interesting and covered the idea of shame and behaviour modification dealing with hardened criminals.....a good read for those interested, and if it only does one thing, it shows its worth...when lip service will not suffice. http://www.theguardian.com/society/...language-critical-mastering-rage-in-prisoners

I also think you nail one thing which is required, whichever path you take - it is routine that is important. think like a pilot and have a checklist if needed. (highly recommended anyway)

gg.....and for those that meditate....do you think you can have self awareness without meditation?
Can you simply be good at being honest and understanding yourself, your reactions, your strengths and weaknesses.

A very good read - thanks for that. It isn't life or death when we are by ourselves but body language, staying with your emotions until they subside - this is part of getting good. You need awareness that resides somewhere inside your body. I get a sense of tightening in the chest and a shortening of the breath. It's not unlike watching price action unfold. You can't get price to move where you want but you can observe and if you stay just with that - you can see clearly.

Do you mind having a look at these videos ( if you have not seen them) - Asian approach to things has made me look to things really differently.

I had seen the second one and watched the first. I am not surprised by the results. I think the buddhist monk who Oprah interviews nails it. You have this little crying baby that is your core self. You need to handle this baby gently. No matter how much it acts out you reassure it that you love it unconditionally. Eventually the crying subsides. The baby - even though it doesn't understand your words - is filled with a sense of love, of being worthy of love. The love isn't conditional - the mother has no expectations for the baby's behavior and the love is there always.
