Work is soooo second millenium. WIN == Work Is Nonprofit. Everybody needs to learn that.
Quote from lesserfool:
To answer the question posed in the headline: you work because it gives you self-worth and dignity. If you can exercise your talents and get paid for it, all the better. If you can have the time of your life doing it - like Mr. Mickelson - you are one of a fortunate few.
I don't think anyone gets to his level by just focusing on the money. He's a competitor. He plays golf because it's his passion.
It sounds like Mr. Mickelson should retire and let the spotlight fall on someone else. There are plenty of talented golfers on the tour who will be willing to step up.

Something I liked in that link is that people might go elsewhere. The problem with being wealthy is not so much the tax it is the aggression of other people who are jealous or want a free ride. That is what will make most people leave imo. In China you are respected, not fake, genuinely respected for being successful not in the West.
Quote from denner:
Completely agree...but this is how many liberals try and talk around the truth about the "total tax burden". When I hear them go on the full court press about returning to some Clinton era tax rates, I want them to take a look at the COMPLETE tax picture..figure out every single tax you pay in a year and then compare it to the 1990's...it's not even funny (and don't even get me started on the amount of inflation since then)...or ZIRP, etc, e tc..

Quote from L-Kabong:
I think I finally understand what in the minds of many a true Liberal is: it's the embodiment of laws and regulation in contemporary society.
Demonizing the Liberal won't abolish the Liberal, it will only introduce an alternatative nomenclature.
Quote from jem:
I would like to know why liberals believe it is right to allow govt to help themselves to earnings.
I beginning to think the only safe income tax is zero.
