Primal / Paleo Diet

Quote from DT-waw:

bacteria and viruses are all giant scam.

WOW. its amazing. here we are in 2012 and have the internet at our fingertips and we still have this kind ignorance. i used to think the internet would be able to kill ignorance but it seems to just give the crazies a louder voice.

Paleo lifestyle also means getting enough sunshine / vitamin D.

if you study at a University or work for a Corporation - you get almost zero UVB rays, since the most uvb emition is from 10am to 2 pm.

As for going paleo...you know early man's life expectancy was about 35- 40

good luck with that:D

those who fear bacteria, viruses, sun, sea, dirty soil = life itself...
and love vaccines, petrochemical, plastic cleaning stuff, fluoride, sun lotions, antidepressant pills, sleeping pills, etc. should soon leave human bodies :D

Quote from lescor:

The danger in raw milk is when it comes from cows that aren't fed their natural diet, which is grass. Factory raised cows, and even most raised 'organically' are eating a diet of corn, soy and other grains. These feeds kill the natural bacteria in a cow's rumen that are vital to it's digestion. In fact that's the main reason cows are given the meds they are on- to keep their feed from killing them before they are slaughtered.

Raw milk from a grass fed cow is perfectly safe, as long as it's handled with common sense safety and cleanliness. Factory farmed cows, yeah you better pasteurize it.

Unfortunately, most people have no idea about this important difference and the raw milk hysteria lives on.

I started doing crossfit workouts about a year ago, and was naturally exposed to paleo, so I started to adapt, little by little, but without much motivation.

But reading The China Study 6 months ago scared the hell out of me. It just makes sense to me now that our evolutionary progress is nowhere near the speed at which we have developed the technology to process foods in the last 100 years. Hence the paleo phrase, "if you can't hunt it or gather it, don't eat it".

I'm not at all strict about it like I should be, so to answer the OP's Q, no I've never gone all in. But I did a workout yesterday which I seriously think would have killed me a year ago, and I'm not nearly as sore today as I thought I would be. (Corey, I did the "del" workout puppydawg style in 18:45. Old fat and slow, I know, but working on it.)

Obviously working out a lot in the last year helps, but I wouldn't have had the endurance if I hadn't stuffed my face with boneless chicken breasts and veggies over the last couple of days.

Sleep is better, workouts are better, I just simply feel better. Hell, I even think my mind is sharper, although there's no anecdotal evidence of that. But trading is better, I can honestly attest to that.

Just one cheesehead's experience.

LOL. This is the entire basis of the argument:
“A true Paleo diet might be a great option: very lean, pure meats, lots of wild plants,” said one expert—quickly adding, however, that duplicating such a regimen in modern times would be difficult.

It's the easiest 'diet' to follow. Eat real foods, avoid grains, legumes, dairy. Eat when you're hungry, stop when you're full. It's hard for the mainstream media to push something that you can't brand and make money off of.

good point. maybe we should go back to adam and eve times and eat what they ate. didnt they live to be 900 years old back then?

I thought I covered that in my evolutionary comment. But I'll try again.

Over millions of years our bodies and our adaptability to what it takes in has evolved veeeeeeerrrrryyyy ssslllooooowwwlllyyyyyy......

Kind of like your brains.

Throw modern processed crap into a body which is used to meat and veggies, you're going to have problems.

But let me guess, you clowns work for the FDA, the medical field, or the junk food industry, and would suffer if the truth got out.

Ever notice what Crossfit.com charges people to view their info? zero. nada.

Keep eating your cheeseburgers and drinking your scientifically tested pepsi and see how your health progresses.
