Nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag - if they do, there must be consequences - perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail!

Disconcerting. People have the right to burn the flag. The President should not be saying otherwise. It begins a slippery slope that allows people to start banning all expression based on what they believe to be right.

Agree, but I wouldn't object to a law being passed which banned the burning. Until then, it's a protected right. (I once served on a military Color Guard.... where accidentally allowing the flag to touch the ground is a big no-no. So you can imagine how I might see burning the flag as a significant transgression... protected by the 1st or not.)
Speaking of "... banning all expression based on what they believe to be right...", isn't that what Lefty-endorsed PC speech is all about? We've "slud a fir piece" down that slope already, have we not?
