Thats why they need some real Moderators on this board, otherwise it will become totally useless. I have already complained about it and they don't give a shit. Please don't misunderstand the difference between moderators who censor posts due to their offensive nature, and a moderator who evaluates a debate, and keeps the discussion on topic and within the proper rules of debating.

Most debates have a winner, as determined by the panel, the audience, or the voters in the case of an election.

My point is that people like Wild, and Afredo, are not capable of playing by the proper rules of debate, and when that happens, all you can do is stop, or make fun of them.

Afredo is too easy to make fun of, so I decided to stop.

And they certainly SHOULD have felt the sanctions were undesirable. As a persuasive measure to compliance they were an ABJECT FAILURE.

How can you possibly turn around and blame SH for the end result?
Sanctions only work if the leader gives enough of a fuck about his people that their suffering will compel him to comply. OBVIOUSLY -- through his distinguished track record of maltreatment of his people -- SH did not give a flying fuck about his people.

I can't believe they were even tried in the first place!

In fact, I surmise that the only reason they were left in for so long was that the brilliant government that introduced them -- the US -- simply didn't have the political will to back down and admit a mistake.

The US must take responsibility for a significant share of the deaths of 100s of 1000s of innocents.

Let's say the US could have lifted the sanctions. But why would they? To blame the parties making the sanctions is to hold them hostage to the acts of the regime they are trying to bring about, thereby making sanctions useless. One would think, as I'm sure the UN did, that no humane person would scoff at the world at the expense of his own population.

To take your premise to its logical conclusion, we should have skipped sanctions and started this war a long time ago. I agree.
