Estimate came from AirPhotosLive
AirPhotosLive.com gave its estimate a margin of error of 9,000, meaning between 78,000 and 96,000 people attended the rally. The photos used to make the estimate were taken at noon Saturday, which is when the company estimated was the rally's high point.
Crowd counting, particularly of political events, always is controversial. The organizers of the event inevitably hype their crowd estimate â often grossly â to demonstrate the popularity of their cause, and opponents inevitably underestimate to fit their own agenda. Because of the wild pre-inauguration predictions of how many would attend in person â up to 5 million! â my reality-based estimate was ignored by many left-wing commentators and embraced by those on the right.
Naturally, I expected more of the same about my Beck rally estimate. To calculate it, I used Airphotoslive.comâs very striking images (MUCH larger than the thumbnail posted here)

to make density estimates across different zones of the crowd; a variety of ground-level images from news photographers and attendees who posted their photos on Flickr; and Google Earth to measure the square footage of the different zones. Yes, I included the crowd areas under the trees; the full-size Airphotolive images were detailed enough to discern the edges of the crowd even there.
My estimate is that about 80,000 people were at the rally.

I'd go with the 'scientific' crowd counters rather than guesses.

Only a total moron could look at the size of that crowd from an aerial picture and think there was only 87k people there.
You can fit 87k people inside of most NFL stadiums, any person capable of logic could look at that picture from above and see there is clearly far to many people at that rally to fit inside of a football stadium.
