Poll: Is Obamacare good or bad for Americans?

In defiance of reality illustrated in numerous polls, on Sundayâs Face the Nation, host Bob Schieffer scolded Republican Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn when she correctly asserted âthere is only partisan supportâ for ObamaCare. Schieffer cut her off: âWell now Congresswoman, thatâs not entirely true. The polls donât suggest that. Polls say that most people favor it.â
In fact, more have disapproved than approved of ObamaCare since it was passed, as confirmed in a new CBS News/New York Times survey released Wednesday night, September 25:
Opinions of the health care law overall continue to be negative. With health insurance exchanges set to open up for enrollment on Oct. 1, 39 percent of Americans now approve of the health care law, but more â 51 percent â disapprove, similar to views in July. Since the law was enacted in 2010, more have disapproved than approved of it.
Maybe Schieffer would have been aware of that if the CBS Evening News or CBS This Morning bothered to report that finding â but they didnât.

We instigated these programs with good intentions, even if misguided. And even after we decide that they are not accomplishing what they were intended to, or had bad unintended consequences, we are slow to make corrections and often continue the same senseless policies for years at great expense, if for no other reason then each program creates its own vested interests.
I suppose mediocrity of outcome is inherent in the democratic process. Occasionally though, we get an good outcome, and an effective and well-run government program results. When that happens, once we recognize how much money could be made if only we could "privatize" the program, we will do our best to kill it. If we can't kill it outright, we will use death by a thousand cuts.
What's truly amazing is how the perception, if not the actual public polls, were turned around before the ACA went into effect in any meaningful way! The majority were for it initially and now the appearance, if not the reality, that the majority is against it has been created .
That's a huge triumph for negative advertising, and makes me wonder if negative advertising isn't considerably more effective than positive. We don't even have the insurance exchanges up and running; yet the medical cartel has already got people convinced the rates they will be quoted will be disastrous --or I should say even more disastrous then they already were.

If you recall the early professional polls showed wide support for a medical overhaul, and that was of course part of the campaign platform that swept Obama into office.

What I gathered from all these is that we are all in the dark, but just not knowing anything is not enough to keep us from forming a firm opinion -- 50% of us firm one way, the other 50% just as firm the other way.
What a Country!In the end I think we have got to go with Mort Zuckerman. I mean what could be more reliable than that!
On second thought, Harry Reid's visual comment is probably as accurate, unbiased, and concise as we are going to find.
