Please help me, option market making risk return, thanks

First you need to learn how to write code, which is the most desirable skill. Then you need to have a good trading idea and/or methodology that is scalable. Prop firms are looking for people either with experience (which you don't have), or someone with good programming skills who can write algos to automate most of the trading. If you could build a track record trading your own money, monitoring your Sharpe/Sortino, max drawdown, Var, ROR, etc., you can present your case with as little as 6 to 9 months of performance. But that would be difficult to accomplish as an OMM if you have limited resources and technology.

However, a lot of prop groups have excess capital lying around and are desperate to allocate it on a proven trade. But you need to have a good track record (proof of concept), and/or solid programming skills just to get your foot in the door. Good luck to you.

I would like to run a market making desk first before I decide to go buy side as I don't have much research skills under my belt. And my school is not located in NY unfortunately.

I want to bang Rebecca Ferguson; I think I've got a shot.

Thanks for the advice. I am looking for something very specific, which is option MM. If not that, some other type of option trading. And other types of trading after that.

They are automatics. Certainly the 1-2 year guys. Dead-end gig.
+1
OP omm is glorified operations. most exchange trading is that way unless you're creating/optimizing the strategies which is all research and development. if you don't fit the stem group then you need to find a niche market where humans still play

Have you tried interviewing with some of the big MM groups such as Susquehanna, DRW, CTC, Wolverine, Blue Fin, Jump, Optiver....just to name a few.

Getting the interview is the hard part for me, unfortunately. I'm not good at pitching myself, either on paper or in person, so looking to try something new.

First I had to google “Rebecca Ferguson”. Yes, safe to say that you have a better shot at nailing Rebecca Ferguson than the OP ‘76132’ has for successfully pitching Don Wilson to head up his own OMM group straight out of B-School.

What city are you in and what city would you consider as home. Brexit may create some opportunities.

I am emboldened.
