You are correct, hockey is much better to see in person than on TV. I think it's because the game moves so fast. It's unlikely that hockey will replace the NFL in viewership. The NFL is just going to continue the slow death track it was already on, now accelerated by political activism.

For a plethora of revenue inducing reasons, almost all pro sports franchises list "paid attendance" figures. Meaning the number of tickets sold, not clicks on the turnstiles or bodies in the stands.
It doesn't say paid attendance,it says attendance.
