They wanted a workable federal government a little stronger than the articles. The convention was likely to breakup without a constitution at all But for the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights as the first 10 amendments were called.... is proof they did not want a strong federal government...

Ninth Amendment – Protection of rights not specifically enumerated in the Constitution.

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

The fact that they got together to make the constitution due to the country falling apart under the articles is proof they wanted a strong government

Maybe one day you will figure out its not state authoritarian rule when the people vote their leaders into office

Surely you jest,that the mere elections prevents "animal farm" behavior besides Soviet Union, china, Iraqi election under SH ect etc. had elections too brainiac. They were not authoritarian?
