belief system ???
Guess I'll have to listen to some conservative radio gurus to get the definations to all y'alls catch phrases and talking points.
I thought all tax legislation had to originate in the House. The ACA passed the Senate 12/24/2009 and then the House 3/21/2010.I think that is right, which further undermines Roberts' claim.
It opens up an interesting option, it could be rechallenged as a tax law and argued illegal due to the manner in which it was created. This however assumes Roberts interpretation means anything legally.
Tax laws cannot be challenged until someone actually pays a tax, which won't be until 2014 on ACA.

Hey Mav,
Thanks for posting; I totally agree. Since the ruling of the SCOTUS on the ACA, the thought occured to me that something is not quite right about the ruling. The law was ruled upon in a different form than what was voted upon by congress; and, more importantly, what was told to the American people. That being the case, is it not reasonable to think, since the law was technically changed by interpretation from its original form, it needs to go back to congress to be approved with the change before it can be implemented?
Justice Kennedy gives rise to this question when, as quoted from the WSJ: Reading a joint dissent from the bench, Justice Kennedy said the majority engaged in âvast judicial overreachingâ and decided âto save a statute Congress did not write.â

I have called myself conservative, but I can assure you I have offended other conservatives before. It is a label that is way too broad, I am my own party of one.
Liberty is to politics what atheism is to religion. Lack of something instead of an overarching belief system with its fundamental assumptions. People on the left have replaced god with socialist government, it fills the same need that people have for some sort of larger entity in control of everything. The trouble is that this is a greater danger to my own liberty than any american religious group since in order to get what they want, the left needs to control everyone. When I offend them they react in the same manner as religious people do when offended.
There is nothing really offensive in this thread since I am agreeing with Obama, so your reaction is kind of strange yet revealing at the same time. I don't know of anyone defending Roberts' argument very vigorously. Liberals don't care, they won.
Wow, a bona fide newbie to our board. Welcome!Quote from stockerup:
Mav,
I felt I needed to make it clear that I agree with the post I quoted from you when I responded to this thread earlier. I don't, however, agree with or appreciate some of the language you use, especially in the opening sentences of this thread. I respect your right to express yourself, but this is a public forum. Please respect others who might be reading your comments. Thanks.
