I just started mentoring with Vlad from http://www.jltrader.com/mentoring/ (I've been a follower of his website for some time). Let's see how it goes. 
Very interesting indeed. My very first question when browsing his website was why he would do this if he consistently makes money. His reply is actually one I very much accept. Whether or not it is based in fact we will never know, but it shouldn't take too long see if there is value here. Opps.. I didn't mean to imply that I e-mailed him... its simply on his website in a section about why he is doing this mentoring:

I went for the 3 months package at a total of 1500 Euros. I can't believe it's this cheap (I guess because he just started mentoring) and I have two comparison points for saying this:
1. Those weekend seminars held by traders, not trading companies (those are scams anyway) that run up to 4-5k (see Mark Minervini, Dan Zanger, Larry Williams any many others) where you have access to the trader for a couple of days, and not even on a very personal basis. Not to count travel expenses to get to the place and lodging
2. look at Chris Capre who is quite popular. He charges $1500 for 4 hours!! http://2ndskiesforex.com/mentoring/ How is he better than Vlad ? (except at web design and marketing perhaps) He doesn't show any verified track records and his claims of being a fund manager don't wash
Like I said in another thread, there's enough free or cheap information out there for one to develop a consistently profitable method. No need to pay mentors.
At the same time, it takes a heck of a lot of work to sift through so much stuff. Yes everyone has to put the work in themselves, but at the same time, there is no need to re-invent the wheel. The fastest way to learn this business is to actually have a mentor who has been around for a long time and is actually profitable. I really do think that if you could skype with a mentor for just one week, 5 consecutive trading days, and discuss everything happening for the first few hours, place trades, win some, lose some, etc., this will be worth more than 1 year as a newbie staring at the screen yourself.
Of course the type of mentor would be critical, and most websites that offer this service fall short, never mind how inadequate a trading room is given so many people. But a real mentor working with you one on one would be hitting the jackpot.
Looking at this guy's website, I actually quite like everything he writes about. He seems totally legit and his methods resonate with how I think this all works. His time frame seems a bit too long for my tastes (he doesn't seem to day trade), and he also only seems to trade currencies. Not that I'm looking to use him, just saying that I would want a mentor who trades what I've been watching and trades in a similar fashion that I do, and he even addresses this by saying what the mentorship is and isn't about. Anyway... it should be quite the good experience Al_Bundy so hopefully you can share your thoughts after only a week or two.
