Pat Robertson Tells Grieving Mother Her Dead Baby Could’ve Grown Up to Be Hitler

we all know, of course, stu knew that when he typed his troll baloney.
he is not able to break out of his et atheist troll mode while typing here.
stu is only here to promote a 1950s thinking atheist "its all here by random chance" agenda.

The Cap'n's point is, whether saving them is worthy or not, they cannot be saved if they don't want to be saved.

dude... that zen is amazing on you...

Robertson makes the news, but that doesn't mean he gets to be the face of Christianity. He and his type are imo vastly outnumbered by millions who live, work, laugh, love, struggle, suffer, and die, who have quietly taken comfort during their lives in prayer and their personal belief in a creator who makes it all meaningful and bearable. They are the true face of Christianity.

this maybe far more revealing than I saw at first.

I thought it was a pithy but juvenile response which obviously contains flawed logic.

But, I wonder if a leftist wants to be able to kid themselves about consequences and the flaw of that exchange away.

is this symbolic of why so many lefties want big govt...
if no one tells you its a sin... are you free to behave like a child. are there no absolutes or morals or ethics.

Does gov't takes the place of God in a leftist's mind by allowing man to remain in a childish state and not have to answer for his actions?

I compare Stu's parable with the Jesus' Parable of the talents in which we are instructed we are accountable to God for the resources he has given to us.

Child:
I didn't know anything about God or sin. So would that mean I'd go to hell?
Believer:
No you wouldn't if you didn't know.
Child:
Then why did you tell me?

My point is associating the word saved with religion doesn't necessarily work. Like alcohol, religion can bring much unhappiness, hate, distrust and fear into people's lives. You only have to read the posts following yours that Jem made to get an inkling of it.

You twisted my point a little. Religion, alcohol, drugs, whatever that is done to excess becomes a perversion. Robertson doesn't need to be saved from religion. Religion needs to be saved from the likes of Robertson. I put him in the Jim Jones, Westboro Baptist Church types. They're all nuts.
I don't think I twisted your point Captain, certainly didn't intend to.
Like there is alcohol there is religion and both provide the fuel for the perversions people like Pat Robertson and the alcoholics you deal with succumb to. If religion need be saved from Pat Robertson then so does the booze industry need be saved from dipsomaniacs.

I'm not being flippant here. Alcoholism may make some headlines too, but it doesn't mean it gets to be the way the vast majority are thought of who use it responsibly.
If we are going to use the word saved, then people can be saved from alcohol and people can be saved from religion either of which otherwise might do them and others real harm.

No harm done. Like your previous post stated, saved is probably not the best word to use. Haven't heard the word dipsomania in quite some time. I had an old friend who referred to himself as a recovering dipsomaniac. Made me think of him and smile.
I guess I'm just saying trying to help people who aren't interested in hearing what you've got to say isn't the best use of ones time given that there are so many who are asking for some kind of help, whatever the situation may be.

I'd say that idealistic picture of a purely innocent and harmless personal belief system, is not what is borne out in history or reality and rather than being the true face, is only part of the many changing faces of Christianity.
I suggest (small L) liberal democratic secular law based society shapes Christianity toward your sublime interpretation of it, possibly more than anything else.

Always thought of dipsomaniacs as a higher class of inebriate!
I hear what you say and of course respect the valuable work you must have done over the years. Where resources aren't available then of course I agree, time should go to those who ask for help. But can't help thinking a little constant persistence in the right place, although often wasted, might be the thing that helps someone the most.

Planting seeds is never a complete waste of time. There are those that grow.
