Pat Robertson Tells Grieving Mother Her Dead Baby Could’ve Grown Up to Be Hitler

Seriously, why is it that this is the best response from die hard theists? I grew up in a catholic home, and ended up an atheist/agnostic, mostly because of this kind of stupid shit, is this really the best answer that the political figures preaching christianity have? These guys are figureheads for religion much like politicians representing a state, and they havent thought of a better answer than this?

Yeah your son died, but he might have become the worst tyrant in modern history, so its all good.

With this kind of representation is it any wonder why young people are fleeing christianity in droves? You would think that these guys would atleast figure out a better way to answer challenging questions like this one.

Tell me anything, tell me gods plan doesnt always make sense, tell me there is a certain degree of randomness in life, but dont try to tell me my son bit the bullet because he might have became hitler, no one is going to buy that. Particularly a grieving mother.

IMO, organized religion is a joke. Closet Christians rule America. Guys like Robertson invent rationalizations and ignore reality to keep their 401c3 status. It's all about the money. The Big Tent Churches never talk about the Warfare-Welfare State, Government spying, Corporate corruption of Government, fluoride in the water etc. They never talk about it. Because money is more important and they will never jeopardize that. Fuck them all.

I'm a believer, but obviously a bad Christian. All a person needs is the first 4 books of the Gospel. No Church required. Personally, I hate church. It's group think x a million. I'll go it alone if I ever repent again. God willing, I will. Look at all the denominations. It's a joke. Christians have turned Christianity into a buffet-style religion. Take what you want and leave the rest.

Im not the kind of guy to bag on peoples religion, there was a big void for me when i turned about 14-15 years old, and realised i just couldnt believe in organised religion, and aholes like pat robertson are precisely the reason why. In my view there may or may not be a god, but if there is, i will probably never know, and i just cant stand the shysters like robertson who have perverted religion for their own gain, who arent even really all that spiritual, or that knowledgeable. There are lots of good people too, but they dont end up on t.v. we had a priest at our school named father bob who was just a genuinely wholesome human being, and he actually practiced the bible, lived frugally, and loved children, and treated each of us as his own, he also smoked and drank but was more than willing to admit he wasnt perfect, a far cry from aholes like Robertson.

Worse yet, he could have grown up to be a pimp for Jesus, collecting money and promising absolution. Robertson is a perfect example of what happens when you take any belief system to it's most absurd extreme.

He's fallen into the trap of trying to apply logic to issues of grief and faith. It is not necessary, religion can stand on its own, it does not have to justify itself to the also arbitrary scientific worldview.

there is not much to say.
I tend to agree with the critiques overall... and I think Ricter's is very good.

There are very few Billy Grahams (maybe the new Pope although I disagree with most of his politics) and far too many clowns/businessmen like Pat Robertson or imo total frauds like Benny Hinn, Robert Tilton, Jimmy Swaggart, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and even worse... molesting priests and the bishops and Cardinals who participated, enabled or covered it up.)

The main reason I go to church is for Communion and the promise's Jesus made that are related to it.

If I were trying to evangelize I would read the parables with people and then discuss them... I don't think there is anything more interesting or powerful than that, If people then choose to go to Church... or believe or not believe, I think that is really between them and God.

Note...as I write this I once again realize I should control myself and cease arguing with et's leftists trolls in the manner I do. I am concerned its like the scorpion and the turtle.

Jem. . .
you should advise people like these.

It's been said you should never feed the trolls, but President Barack Obama isn't heeding that advice.

In an interview with "Extra" airing Thursday, Obama sat down with correspondent Jerry Penacoli, who thanked the president for the Affordable Care Act and the impact it had on his battle with stage III melanoma. Obama said hearing from people like Penacoli and others who write him letters reminds him that his work makes "a difference in a lot of people's lives."

"I get 10 letters a night out of the 40,000 letters and emails and messages that we get," Obama said. "Some of them are just saying 'thank you,' for something, some of them are saying 'you're an idiot.'"

The president said he does reply to his critics.

"Are they surprised?" Penacoli asked.

"I think sometimes they are," Obama said. "I try to address their concerns."
