Never going to happen. We tried that before and there were too many instances of people making position calls in the first post of a thread and then changing the post when the call went against them.

I guess (and only for the first opening post to allow it function as a like a sticky) a button for the edit history would solve that. This somewhat depends on storage of course.

I saw a forum years ago where the OP had an option to add a brief readme note above the reply form box to post corrections or pre-response checklist requests.

That said, I appreciate the natural selection approach is efficient, if it is not a well thought out title etc. (my mistake) it dies fast when the noise to signal gets too high for the OP :)
