Owners outfoxed as Russia absconds with $10 billion worth of jets

It is arbitrary if a man's wealth is confiscated. Those
affected have no political control over Putin.

I do not agree with absconding with what people
have worked for their whole life.

Point of fact, who gave this international court
the authority to seize assets?

It's unprovoked because the Media says so?
F@ck the meda since SVR or any Russian deep
cover foreign Intelligence agents are not required
to share information with the world.

Mr Putin nor his advisors could give a rats
ass to satisfy anyone's need for
proof why he sees the actions in
Ukraine as a threat.

Until the NATO paper soldiers and it's
leadership grow a spine expect more of
the same from Russia

Those citizens should overthrow the guy whose causing them to lose their livelihoods.

if Russia doesn’t need to justify its invasion of Ukraine and shelling of those civilians, the west doesn’t need to justify its confiscation of Russian property and its economic sanctions against those civilians.

I don't understand what gives anyone
the right to confiscate the Russian
oligarchs wealth. Are we to assume
they're responsible for political
influence over Putin?

A smart man will protect his wealth.

This bleep sets a precedent they'll
confiscate anyone's wealth if and
when you don't walk the line
of some future arbitrary policy.

In the U.K. it is frozen not confiscated.

Putin is like Trump. He will not suffer any consequence, and his war will continue.

Nobody will ever take either of these people out. An eternal war. This is just going to continue to sink stocks, so go all in on the shorts. WTF else matters?
+1 for tenacity.

US banks and EU banks have frozen somewhere around $400B in Russian assets. Hard currency assets. That's the rainy day fund that Putin counted on to counteract the sanctions and save the ruble. You're not up to speed are you?

What does it mean to have "frozen" 400 billion in Russian assets that Putin counted on as a rainy day fund?

Putin had these assets OUTSIDE of Russia to use as a rainy day fund? For whom

Yeah taking those planes was ridiculous!! But those assets are frozen though; they still belong to the Russian people. Can the west really use those assets, even some of it?

American government has used frozen foreign assets all the time. Assets from Iran, North Korea. And recently $7BB of Afghanistan. That is just insane to take money from a poor country where ordinary people are dying from hunger and cold.

What difference it makes? If Putin never returns from Ukraine, the money will be frozen forever. And some Western governments may just use that money to buy arms to send to Ukraine and let fighting to continue.

This has happened with the frozen assets from Syria, Iran and probably Libya too.

Taking other nations' money, particularly from private citizens are really absurd. The free world always talks about "laws and orders". Wonder what laws they cite now to take private assets. Even "freeze" the ownership of a large sport club.

It means you still own it and your property rights are respected so other people invest in your market instead of markets where it is confiscated.
